No fuel to the motor??

I just out in a new motor into my car, i had an 87 gl 1.8l carbed motor in it, and i put in an 86 RX turbo F.I. motor in it and i have spark but i dont have any fuel running through the fuel lines going to the motor and dont know why. Do any of you have any ideas why im not getting any fuel?

No i didnt, i didnt know i had to. Would it be in the same spot at the carbed motor?

Ok thanks ill go check it out, why wouldnt the carbed and the fuel injected pump be the same?

Yeah, the standar carbed fuel pump only provides somewhere around 3 to 5psi, whereas the one for the fuel injected system has to provide more like 40psi. You might have to upgrade some lines as well.

I sure hope you also swapped the harness and ECU as well.

 

Assuming you did, are you sure it is correct? The supply and return lines are easy to confuse. Although, you will have to swap in the FI fuel pump before that will matter.

Yeah i swapped it all haha, i got the motor tranny and wiring harness and ecu all in. I was looking at the fuel lines and where they connect to the motor and one is smaller than the other 2 so i just guess which one goes where and hope it is right haha

The stock rubber fuel lines on a carbed model aren't high-pressure rated. If you simply install the FI pump without upgrading all the lines they will burst and you will be very unhappy (possibly dead).

 

It sounds very much like you have absolutely no idea what you are doing or why. This, coupled with the rather bad tempered nature of the EA82T will result in your ultimate abandonment of this car somewhere on the side of the road - if it ever runs.

 

Now - to see if I am right yet again :lol:

The majority of the lines are metal. The rubber sections are the connections from the tank to pump, pump to metal line that runs through the body, and from the firewall to the manifold.

 

Replace all that hose with high pressure,FI rated hose.

True, the EA82T is a finicky hellcat with a heart of lye, but pretty easy to learn on and fairly relaiable if you treat them good and keep them cool.

So do i have to replace the metal lines or just the rubber lines? Where do i get the new lines? Can i just get them at Napa or something like that?

Make sure whatever hose you get is FOR FUEL INJECTION SYSTEMS. It's more expensive, but says right on it for fuel injection.

The line from the tank to the pump should be ok, since it doesn't see any pressure.

I bought some very nice Goodyear fuel injection hose at Kragen of all places. It even has a flouroelastomer (like Viton) liner.

The EA82T motors can't stand to be overheated, it cracks the heads and blows the gaskets. Other than that they aren't bad, I've been running 15 PSI through mine (with other mods too, stock long block) for a while now.
