2.5 motor a/t awd. 135,000mi outback

From what I've read on here, doing a 2.2 swap on this is pretty straight forward, Yes?. I'll be the one helping Jim do the engine swap here in the next month or so.

which 2.2 is best to get for a 97 OBW? what years should I look for? what else should I look for??

what will need to change/adapt to replace a 2.5?
