I have an 85 GL EA82 and it wont go over 25 miles per hour. What could be causing this?? I know it has a vacuum leak in the carb and in the y pipe seal so that is what i think is doing it, but I'm not sure.

:horse:

Lots of Reasons could Cause That... This are Few to Mention some:

  • if it Still has the Original Craptachi Carb, then the Secodary Stage which is Vacuum Activated, must be Bad, Unplugged or has its Linkage Disconnected... Check it at the Carb`s Back.
  • More Vacuum Leaks... Check All the Hoses... Replace as Needed...
  • Distribuitor`s Cap And / Or Rotor Failure...
  • Bad Spark Plugs + Cables
  • Clogged Exhaust...

Well, I Suggest to Start there...

Good Luck!

the car has trouble getting over the 35 mph mark, and it doesn't accelerate very well still. And a clicking noise coming from the passenger side axle area

Cam timing and ignition timing is my bet.. Check and make sure its all correct.

It has been retimed all the way around. The carb is shot. it is leaking fuel between the carb and intake. That's what's causing it. I'm almost sure that's what's causing it to run like S .................

Fair enough. I should read the whole thread before posting
