January 22, 200917 yr im a dumb *** how do you guys with the lifts and rear disk brakes secure the slack i forgot to do this and both my rear break lines rubbed through leaving me one exciting ride into lows parking lot to get vice grips haha... btw i didnt have the rubbing issue till i put my little tires back on for gas mileage also who's got a set of soft lines i can buy!
January 22, 200917 yr I would just tie it off to something that it wont rub on. Try it out, if it doesnt look like it will work, cut the zip tie and try another spot -Bill
January 22, 200917 yr Yeah man. I believe zip ties are the tool for this job. Just tie it to something that keeps it away from moving parts, and tie it tight enough that it won't rub back, and forth inside the tie job you've done. I'd bet this is how even major Baja teams do it. I know it's how I secured the brake lines on my $20,000 four wheeler. If it works; don't fix it!
January 22, 200917 yr When and if your brake lines fail always remember that your e brake is mechanical and will stop you very well!
January 22, 200917 yr Author i know compression braking and e-braking is fun on these unknowing adventures
January 22, 200917 yr I got some rubber fuel hose, slit it one way and put it over the brake line like a sock, zip tied it "closed".. then used zip ties to rig the lines into position.
January 23, 200917 yr I used zip ties on the braided stainless hoses I had on the Hatch. Didn't even leave a mark on them. I think I tied them to the trailing arms in a couple spots. I used one-piece hoses, got rid of the intermediate tube.
