Im just curious my shifter is noisy. Not the tranny just the shifter. It has been getting a little louder as of late. I came across this thread on a newer legacy with a simalar problem.

Is the shifter set up similar. Can I do the same thing?

check your gear lube

 

when I switched from 80w90 to hydraulic / trans fluid the shifter is "noisy" especially in top row gears

The bushings are still available at your Subaru dealer. There's been several posts here about replacing them. I need to do it too.
