1990 legacy Wagon LS

Well the door locks have to be held down as you lift the lever to get out of the car, and somtimes the doors lock them selfs when opening the doors, I can unlock 1 or all the doors with the driver door using the key. and unlock all the doors with the door lock inside.

Anything helps.

Welcome to the leagacy door lock tango:banana:, what has happend is the spring that returns the door handle to its home position is now resting on the door lock toggle, pushing it to the locked position any time you use the handle:-\. To fix you'll have to pull the door apart and remove the handle/lock and reach inside it with a paper clip or wire and grab the spring, then use the wire to secure the spring away from the lock toggle:eek:. Sounds worse than it is really, getting the door apart is more of a PIA.

Just think of it as a safety option you didn't pay for:lol:. Hope this helps...G

seems to be a common problem on the early Legacy models.

after some searching a while back I had found a writeup on how to fix it and it does work! did the job on our 90 L sedan, and going to have to do the LS wagon soon...

Here's a link to the write up...

hope that helps :)
