February 6, 200917 yr Hey guys, my name is Alex, just got back in to the wonderful world of Subys a few weeks ago with the purchase of my 88 GL 4x4. I will put up an intro thread once I have some pics, but just needed a question answered. I found someone parting out a 90 Loyale FWD. I am looking to buy the backseat and the full exhaust. Both cars are wagons by the way. I need a new exhaust manifold and the muffler, both of which look to be in great shape and also the backseat as mine is complete, but pretty gross. I'm almost positive the seat will work but I was hoping for some confirmation. My other question is, was the exhaust routing any different on the 2WD Loyale vs the 4WD GL. From the pictures provided it looks like it will fit, but again just needed some confirmation as alot of cars these days will route the exhaust different for 2WD and 4WD models. And to wrap it up, the exhaust manifold should be identical between the 2 cars correct? Thanks in advance. Lovin the site so far.
February 6, 200917 yr Im pretty sure the exhaust routing is the same, but i could be wrong. The eaxhaust manifold (we call it the Y pipe) is the same. Should bolt in. -Bill
February 6, 200917 yr Author Very cool, thats what I thought. Thank you. Any idea on the rear seats ?
February 6, 200917 yr rear seat and y-pipe definitely. the pipe before the muffler might be routed differently though, as the rear suspension is quite a bit simpler.
February 6, 200917 yr Author Right on, all I really need is the y-pipe and muffler, so I'm not super concerned with the center piping, but I might still use the cat off the other car as it was alot lower miles. Thanks for all the help guys
February 6, 200917 yr The rear seatw will be a direct bolt it, as long as they are both wagons. Loyals are just stripped down GLs with a hair more fancy than a DL. But the seats swap between them all. -Bill
February 6, 200917 yr The mid pipe is different between the 4WD and 2WD but if I remember correctly, I have used 2WD mid pipe on a 4WD before. I know for a fact you can use the 4WD on the 2WD.
February 6, 200917 yr Like it was said, the y-pipe and the muffler are the same on the 2wd and 4wd cars. The mid section is not however as on the 2wd, it sits in the trans tunnel and will block the driveline on the 4wd.
February 6, 200917 yr Author Perfect, the y-pipe and muffler are the total losses on the GL, so as long as those work I should have everything I need. Thanks again

Nah, I've used the 2wd pipe on 4wds, it works, rides a little close to the carrieir bearing but it works, and I've never had a heat issue in TURBO car. Gives you a half inch of clearance.
