Idle Probs

Featured Replies

:eek:well, the idle sits at 700 then drops to 400 then to 0 then jumps back up to 700. but the car doesnt die, what is going on?

It could be many things at this mileage.

I'd start with the simple things:

Seafoam the IAC and intake track

Ensure the Plugs and wires are in good condition

Clean the MAF sensor

Does it do it all the time?

Hot or Cold?

Other than the idle does it run fine?

Is your gas mileage good?

it does it when I am at a red light, or sitting for awhile, the gas millage I noticed has gone down slightly, not much, and does this when it is warm.

check your throttle body is cleaned also....not all gummed up with carbon and such..ive seen a few of these problems caused by a simple carboned up throttle plate....

Temp Sensor on the Water manifold under the Intake manifold. There is a Temperature Switch, small one with a blade connector and the Temperature Sensor, with the connector.
