New car!!

Featured Replies

So I don't have pics yet but I just picked up an 89 GL sedan with 4x4 dual range!!! It started life as a 2wd auto but a friend of mine converted it a few months back!! It needs a good cleaning and a few odds and ends but it's in very good shape. It has small rust holes behind each rear wheel, but they are very small and I will cut them out and weld in patches this spring(or sooner) I will post some pics when I get the car on Saturday!

Sweet! Whatcha gonna do with it?

Probably get all the small stuff worked out and the drive it as is for a little while. But, I've always wanted a lifted sedan, so I'll probably lift it a couple inches!! And definitely fix the small rust spots before they have a chance to get worse!

Glad you finally found a soob without the cancer that bad! I know how rust is your arch-nemesis...mine too, apparently. Found a fifty cent hole below the bumper the other day.

yeah, It's really pretty solid. And Since it's not that bad, I will take very chance to oil it thoroughly and fix any spots it does have to make it last!! I looked it over good, and the only spots I found were right behind the rear wheels, but they are quite small and easily fixable!! Hopefully yours doesn't get that bad!!

Nah, I'll take care of it like you are come spring. I also have rust behind the wheels, but it's just surface...for now.

So I just talked to the guy I bought it from and I won't be getting it until tomorrow. He is trying to get another car on the road before he can give me this one, yeah bad planning, but oh well. So I will try to get pics tomorrow if it's not too dark or I will get them on Monday!

Here are some pics! They are not great, but there will be more to come. It still has 2WD front struts for now. I have to give it a good cleaning, and then put in a 2" lift and then throw on my 15" Pugs! So stay tuned!!

Nice car! I could just barely see the rust you mentioned.

Thank you! Yeah, when I get it cleaned up, I will take better pics. But they are very small and going to be very easy to fix:banana: I really can't wait to get started on it!!

Nice looking car! Soooo after you finish the lift, Hella lights on the bumper and a black racing strips down the middle?:brow::burnout:

:grin:Maybe!! I could see that. Probably just gonna do lift and throw on a set of Pugs for now. It's definitely on a budget, so I will replace any thing that needs to be replaced but everything else will be home made! I know I need a fuel filter and maybe some valve cover gaskets. But I still have to look it over some more. But it's in good shape and I got a decent deal for it

Sure, jump on the 89 GL bandwagon now..........

Not a bad deal, at least they put the mounts in those cars to fit the 4x4 stuff.

Yeah I can't remember exactly what is there and what needs to be done, but I know you have to drill holes for all the rear suspension stuff. But it's a good little car. I still wish I had my old 89 GL touring wagon! That thing was mint and no rust and I put a lot of new parts in it, but I was a dumb rump roast and sold it! I'll never forgive myself for that one!! But I should be able to make this into a nice ride.

I just went out and cleaned out the interior a little and found probably 3 bucks in change on the floor!! I've never found that much change in a car before. I always find some but this was insane:lol:. But anyways, it's nice to see the floor!!! The previous owner(even though he's a friend) is quite the slob when it comes to his cars. I still have to vac it out and try to clean the seats a little, and then put an air freshener or 12 in there. As soon as my grandfather gets done with the front aluminum lift blocks, I will throw those in! Can't wait!!

Guess PO needed that change tray you're after...or 12!?!

Alright so a.little bit of an update. I have it all lifted now. I just did a 2". I used flat bar in the rear, and I used blocks in the front. It still has the little stock tires on it right now,but I will soon be putting my 15" Pug alloys on it with some bigger tires. Here are some pics!!

I want to thank TheBeastIDrive for a bunch of interior parts, Jibs for the rear discs that I will be eventually installing, and Thecarman for the GL-10 trunk spoiler.

Looks Sweet now some 235 and you'll be right up town!!!!

I think the tires I have kicking around are 235 60 15's. They aren't super tall but they will give a few extra inches and they are pretty wide as well. I'm putting those on my 15" Pug alloys.

Alright, got the tires mounted up, so here are some more pics!!
