ea81 leaks under the spacer. It has to do with the adapter. I really do want to keep the heat, instead of plugging it. I took it off again and put a little rtv on to see if it would stop, it didnt. Suggestions? Maybe the adapter isnt totally flat? Its a minimal leak.

did you put a gasket between the adapter and the manifold??

Make sure the bottom is nice and machined, I used a block w/fine grit sand paper and rubbed the adaptor on it. Both sides of the adaptor needed done befor installation. As mine was crappy out of the pack. Could be the hose clamp/hose there. Some adaptors have a plug there in them it may need re-teflonned or tightend. I use a tiny bead of water pump sealnt on both sides of the gasket just around the port hole, never had any problems. I also did not use the gaskets suppled (they seemed crappy). If you do decide to plug it, there is flow at both sides of the hose so both need capped. Just fix the leak. Good luck.

Yes, albeit it wasnt the best gasket I have ever seen. I am thinking it is not perfectly flat.

i cannot believe the crappy adapter plate on a 319 dollar kit. bad bad

 

and on top of that, the crappy gasket too.

I rtv'd the little hole pretty good. I was very surprised it leaked.

So I have a Suggestion that might Help you and it is Pretty Easy:

 

• First: Use fine Sandpaper in the intake`s and in the Adaptor Plate`s Base, to Remove Dirt.
  

• Then: Spread a Layer of Shellac Gasket Compound in Both Sides of Both Gaskets: The one Between the Adaptor Plate & Intake and the one Between the Adaptor Plate & Carb. (Shellac Resists Gasoline & Oil, avoid the Use of Silicones or other Products There)
  

• Let the Shellac to Dry for a While Before Putting all Together Back again.
  

And That`s it! ... I Believe that it will Work Fine and Solve your Leakin` Problems; it also Helps to Solve Vacuum Leaking Related Problems.

Just installed my weber (ea81) and I'm leaking coolant from under the adapter plate. Was this because i didn't plug the hole? Will plugging it affect anything else?
