Time for a stupid 4WD transmission question!

Recommended Posts

I would think so...

on the s/r you have the vacuum system to keep the 4wd engaged...

on the d/r you have the linkage...

either way that's the only real difference... and if you're going to do it I'd go for the solid feel of a lever to shift into 4wd rather than trust the vacuum...

More work actually. The pushbutton requires more wireing and vacuum hose/solenoid hookup than the d/r. The linkage is the same either way except for the d/r you make a two cuts to the 4WD shift rod (the EA81 shift rod) - removing 1" of it and then welding it back together. It then pins to the transmission the same way it did to the 4 speed.
