I know this may seem like a silly question, but its a very annoying problem.

 

The post that holds the floor mat in place broke off in my 05 legacy. and since its a stick and my foot moves around a lot the mat moves around and gets under the pedals. Does anyone have an idea to keep it in place or to get the post back in? I still have the post, it just came out of the hole it was in and wont stay in now.

Correct.

I have it in a technical service bulletin somewhere on my other laptop. I believe you are suppose to receive a beefier version of the washer clip that holds it to the carpet.

 

I vote contacting your dealer.
