Strange missing, can't work out why - 85 Turbo RX Leone

Featured Replies

Hey guys, long time Subaru owner here, first time poster. Thought I'd come to the experts who might be able to help :D

I've just recently purchased an 85 RX Leone sedan. Now the poor girl looks like she's had a fair hammering by some young little bastards I bought it off :P but was once used for rallying with a WRX engine in at one stage. Right now though, has a classic old EA82T engine with some bloody huge turbo strapped to it (I believe it may be a WRX turb), custom headers and a three inch exhaust.

The number four cylinder is missing for some unknown reason. Had it compression tested, came back fine with 125 PSI. Definitely getting a spark through, and it will occasionally run on four cylinders. I've taken it a to friend of mine who is (very handily) a mechanic, and he says the old Water Temp Sensors in these old puppies have a big effect on the air/fuel mixture, so I'm going to chuck a new one in tomorrow.

In the meantime, I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? Everything points to it being able to fire, yet it only does every now and again.

Hope someone can help me, want this old girl back on the road ready to smoke any said Honda/Evo/Skyline etc.

If any more info is needed please don't hesitate to ask :D

Cheers guys :)

Fuel cut would affect all 4 cylinders and only at WOT.

I suspect a bad injector or circuit to it.

Does it have new plug wires?

My thought was that he was mikstaking fuel cut for a miss. I mean how would he know it was just 1 cyl missing without getting too far into diagnosing it

Because the fuel cut is like turning the engine off and then back on.

I experience it every time I go over 12lbs of boost.

This could be a real pita to track down, seeing how it had a completely different engine in it.

How bad was the wiring harness chopped up?

Are all the sensors still there?

Was it returned to the original stock form is the big question.
