I like that answer, strait forward . better than google

Yep,

Also these are:

USDM "United States Domestic Market"

EDM (you guessed it) "European Domestic Market"

Yeah google can take you for a fun trip sometimes and still never give you the answer you want.

To further, quickly, explain it's the stuff you'd find on a Japanese car in Japan. Parts/accessories that would not normally be on the same model of car that they send to the US for example.

Like if they put different lights or something on depending on the country it's going to. Or a different engine we can't get here.

The tuner guys tend to really be into the JDM stuff.

Yes another good example is like in some other countrys you can have an EA82 style car with an EA71! Another is like the '05-'07 Imps, in other countrys they use the 1.8 EJ18, I think Honduras is one country that sells them that way..

Also some models/Brands may not make it to the U.S, like. Daihatsu, Mazdas AZ. Toyotas Hi-Ace, Mitsus Space Gear ect.. Funny isn't it.

Correct, I might remember seeing Daihatsus (But not many) and yes, that Lexus 2 and 4 door are both Skylines in Japan. :)

Lexus is Toyota.

The "Skylines" (G35 I believe) are Infinity. Nissan's high end brand.

:)

We do get the new GTR here though. Seen a couple around Portland already. :burnout:

I thought JDM meant Japanese Dealer Market... like OEM..

whats OEM mean?

"Original Equipment Manufacturer"

So not always the company that made the car but the company that made the part for the company that made thee car.

Remember. These days most car manufacturers (at least the US ones, not looked into others) do not make all the parts that go into their cars. They make some key components (body, drivetrain), then gather all the parts from the companies they contracted to make their parts and assemble them.

Most the parts in my Focus are from Germany or Japan. Including the engine (Japan/Mazda) and transmission (Germany). Ford just stamped out the body and put it together.

Those compaines are still "OEM"

JDM == Just Dump Money. ;)

JDM yOOOOO!!!!!! haha

recently JDM has gone mad in our japanese club, if it aint JDM, well, your not on top matey

JDM stuff is usually higher spec, i.e the JDM spec impreza sti's of the first shape, were alot more 280 bhp standard out the factory, also mitsubushi market there pajero as a shogun over here, the pajero having lots more features (elecy mirror, chrome mirrors, air con etc) and honda integras, different lights, more power, different trim level, it goes on over all the japanese car manufacturers...

great thing is, all the JDM stuff is importable over to here, casue they drive on the same side!
