What Will Fit From a Turbo Legacy on to a N/A Legacy

Featured Replies

I'm new to the subaru club so some of my question maybe a bit newbie.

There is a guy localy that has been trying to sell two turbo legacy's. One is a 91 the other a 92. I'm wondering as the title states, what parts from the turbo legacy's will fit on my 94 N/A legacy. One of the main things I'm curious about is if the front end of the 91 will fit on my 94? It seems more likely for the 92 front bumper cover will fit (from pictures). Will the hood fit? I've also heard that the shortblock from these cars are good to build on, is that true? Also should a TCU from a 92 work on my 94 auto?

Thanks

if you have a 94 and want to convert the front end, the ENTIRE front from a 91 has to be swapped. hood, lights, fender, bumper, turn lights.

The hood line, headlights, etc are different on the 91 and to get just a single part to fit, the WHOLE front clip has to go with it.

You would be much better off to just use the 92 turbo parts cause then individual compoments will work.

The turbo legacy block is arguably the best block subaru ever made. The rest of the engine is meh, ok.

the rest of the motor is good. Makes more torque then HP at a low RPM.

'89-91 = Same (aka pre-facelift)

'92-94 = Same (mostly - the GT had a raised roof in '94) (aka post-facelift)

Yes, the shortblock is great...rumor it can handle 300+HP 'as is' w/supporting mods to fuel/ECU/etc.

'92 Turbo TCU in a '94 NA? It'll work, but you may get some weird shifts on occasion...@ least I did. I'd match the transmission (turbo vs. NA) w/the same TCU; I think the year matters less.

BTW, if the '91 Turbo is an Automatic it also has the same diff ratio as your '94 - 3.90 - and it should have a VLSD...buy that for sure!
