August 22, 200916 yr When I take a tight right on a highway ramp my 2003 OBW shutters like it is trying to cut off. I notice that the RPMs are kind of low and downshifting seems to correct it but this an AT. Any ideals?
August 22, 200916 yr We could use more info on your problem. How many miles on the car? Have you checked the trans fluid level and condition? Are you entering a highway (accelerating) or exiting (decelerating) or just cruising through the turn off the throttle? Can you repeat the problem doing a left turn in a parking lot or something similar to the right hand ramp? Does it happen every time?
August 26, 200916 yr Author I checked my trans fluid, it is on the L so I guess that is low. It only does it with a right turn never a left. The turns are of the clover leaf type. What happens is the car starts shuddering and the check engine light goes off and on (normally it is on all the time). But the car has enough momentum to keep going and doesn't stall. After checking the fluid I think it might be because I a little low on fluid.
August 26, 200916 yr What's the Check Engine Code, how long has the light been on, and under what circumstances did it first appear? Take it to an Autozone if you have one near by and they will read the codes for you for free. I don't know Shyte about AT's but the above is universal. Good Luck! Will-
August 26, 200916 yr Author Checked with engine running. The light message is the bad cat one (o2 sensor) has been on since 2006. I'll check the ground.
August 26, 200916 yr Replace the O2 sensor for crying out loud. 3 years? yes you could have done cat damage by now. When was the last time this car had a tuneup? nipper
