ignition timing procedure

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if any one out there knows the correct procedure for adjusting the ignition timing for an EA81T.I assume you disconnect the vacuum advance but I am unsure what RPM the engine should be running at or what the timing should be set to.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Dave.

Turbone is it normal to be completely out of advance at 15 degrees btdc.I double checked my timing because I had timed it off of cylander #2 instead of #1.It was only off by 2 degrees but when I put it to #1 at 15 btdc it is out of adjustment.Thanks for the help,Dave.

The disty could be a tooth off. Or maybe you have the wires on the disty wrong? With the cap off, the rotor should be pointing at 11 o' clock (TDC). Rotation is counterclockwise, and the cylinders are numbered;

3 4

1 2

And the firing order is 1,3,4,2

Check this and report back, eh?
