A 1998 subaru outback with a #4 cylinder misfire. Replaced plugs and wires, still running bad, replaced coil pack, still running bad. put fuel injector cleaner in and top end cleaner, still running bad, replaced fuel injector for #4 still running bad.

anybody with any ideas, keep in mind that check engine light comes back on with #4 misfire after you clear the code then test drive it.

Sometimes it's the easy things we overlook. Since the plugs are in a tough area to reach, you might check to make certain the plug wires are firmly clipped on to the plugs. I've seen people who pushed the rubber boot on, but the metal end of the plug wire wasn't over the end of the plug.

Hi,

How about the ignitor? Those do seem to go bad at times. You'd think that an error code would be set for two cylinders as the ignitor is shared, but maybe the computer registers the first one only. I would check the compression first, as has been suggested.

Regards,

Adnan
