Historic Subaru Forum (3 Viewing)
Any topic discussing Subaru models older than 1979 (1981 for Brat), or vehicle restoration techiques for any model or year Subaru.

Older Generation of Subarus (16 Viewing)
If your Subaru was built after 1980 but before 1990 or is a Loyale, Justy, XT or XT6 please post here.

since the build is 11/79 doesn't it belong in old gen? it's an ea71

maybe there should be a category of TRANSITIONAL eras :-p

Unless he's got a Brat, he's not in the right spot. What car?

Remember if the build date is 11/79 it's probably MY1980.

11/79 would definately be a 1980 model year.
The new models roll into the showroom in September.

Now, What vehicle are we talking about:confused:

You realize that with a subject line like that you are just begging for juvenile humor. :brow: (and I am only too happy to oblige)

Though it is "Historic", it should go into the genral Old Gen forum, not the Historic (Gen1 and earlier) forum....

Yeah,a little more info, please,so we know whether to throw stones at you or not.:-p

Brats up to 1981 model year are Historic.

Cars after model year 1979 are "Older Generation" even with an EA71

But hey, nobody's going to make you feel not welcome here.Right guys? ;)

EA71's after 1979 are "wide case" with a different water crossover, and slightly different air injection fittings.

Give us a shot.Whatcha got?

Is the shape of the headlamps enough to differentiate?
round = historic
ugly and square = older

No. There are round headlights in the old gen and new gen forums as well ('80-'82 DLs in the Old Gen and '02-'04 WRXes and Imprezas in the New Gen forum).
