Meeky Moose
well the fuse hadn't blown until the other day. and it popped, so i got out, put another in , it popped, so i pull the back panel for the tailights and one of the connectors was wet so i dried it, put in another fuse and it blew.. so finally i stuck another fuse in it and it was fine.. drove around with the lights on for 2 days. no problems.. i get in the car this morning, they worked fine until i got about half ways to work and pop. out it went again.. so i pulled the back panel, and everything was dry.. so after the 4th fuse this morning, i said screw it, and drove to work without them... the dash lights go out as well when the fuse pops.. i can't figure out where its shorting out.. i did install another stereo but i just left the factory connectors on the wires that used to run the stereo light.. so its not shorting out there i know.. any suggestions aside from tearin the hole damn car apart?? JonOfScio
have you messed with your stereo lately? When I first installed a new deck, there was an accessory wire behind my deck that was from the dash/tail lites fuse. I had to find it and cap it off so it wouldn't touch the body of the deck and blow the fuse. This is a possibility, but other than that, don't know what to say. Meeky Moose
yeah, i know where that wire is, and its still in the factory plastic plug. left it that way so it wouldn't have a problem..
gbianchi
I'll be watching this topic as I also have this prob with a 79 brat. but when my fuse goes its all the lights. I have jumped the fuse with a wire with clips on each end and that does work without frying the stock wires, but it does get hot, sometimes melts the insulation, only when the wife drives??? Sorry I can't help but I share you problem.
Supaglu
Hi, If your subie has a "tailgate" and the wires run through the headlining down into the tailgate then check the wiring loom where it comes out of the roof into the tailgate, the wires break with all the opening and shutting of the tailgate and then short out.
