  1. What?? This isn’t self sufficient house plumbing and tank water storage. Wrong forum? Cheers Bennie
  2. K&N was real big in the diesel pickup world and people were putting them in left and right and getting great HP gains. Until they blew an engine and it was full of grit from the K&N being poorly maintained. 10K for a diesel engine VS HP gain. Was not worth the risk, so I pulled mine went back to a high quality paper filter. Not sure about migrating oil to the MAF in the subaru, but is the risk worth it? And this whole thread started by someone asking if it was ok to maintain the K&N filter, in a way that was not what K&N calls for. Due to a broken sprayer. Your car you choose, Lots of info about them on the diesel pickup forums, and kind of like oil debates, no one really wins, and you can make a video to support any point, it is all up to You and the way You maintain or do not maintain the filter. And your risk/reward assessment. Good points and options pointed out.
  3. headgaskets - they can come and go intermittently so they're hard to discern immediately from other causes. knocking: 1. piston slap - look it up 2. timing tensioner knocking 3. rod knock

  5. Well I got it put back together, reusing the lower camshaft idler. Runs great. I wrote rockauto a glow-in-the-dark complaint letter advising them of my dissatisfaction with the Dayco kit. Aisen from hereon... Thanks to all for the help.
  6. Necro-bump of a 13 year old thread!
  7. ^^^that's a pretty coupe... I had my hubs redrilled to 4x114 and fit these Enkei Apache II wheels, along with a set of the smallest Blizzaks that Bridgestone sells. So that's a 15x7 wheel with 38mm offset , and 185/55r15 tires. They seem to fit but it's pretty tight on the inside edge of the rear. I've got some 14mm spacers I can throw on the rear if I have problems but I'm going to see if I can get by without them. Wagon build log 30 by Jason Ahrns, on Flickr
