  1. I have a 2014 XV, regular model. The original Panasonic battery lasted 6 yrs and 44k miles, just now replaced it. Was reading 7.68V as I tried to start the car, and it just clicked a few times. Replacing the battery is straightfwd with a small 10mm combo wrench. Your electric rear hatch will not work once you disconnect your old battery, so don't have the new battery sitting back there. Rear brake light bulb was also original and easy enough to replace yourself, but note a couple of things. You want a 10mm socket to remove the two black screws that retain the entire tail light assembly onto the frame, beneath the rear hatch. Once the two screws are removed, you probably want to be wearing grippy gloves as you carefully but firmly pull the entire tail light assembly STRAIGHT back from the care to remove it, NOT out to the side. There are plastic retainer clips inside that you can't see or get at from the outside, and you will crack them if you try to pry the tail light off the car sideways. Capiche?

  2. Step-a-toe. I do have an extra set of FelPro Perma Torque HGs. They are fool proof. If any HG issues in coming months I'll re-do using the Perma Torques. And if it gets to that point I'll have chase all head bolt holes.

  4. Benny. Yeah, I got New South Wales and Bendigo mixed up a bit. Oh, I LIKE THAT BENDIGO from the looks of it. And for that retension [retorque] I'll just confirm 47 ft/lbs with no backing off.

  5. They all have a propensity for issues. The only nearly 100% repeatable trustworthy solution is to reboot an OEM axle.

  6. Nah, that’s beyond me. Giles is a member here currently doing extensive restoration work on a rusty XT. It’s incredible at the moment. He’s got the front done or nearly done. Cut out, strip, fab, weld, prep, etc. welding and boxing in shouldn’t be a problem if done right. But Rust repair “done right” isn’t something I should be guiding!

  7. Well, the ECU is not smart enough to control lights. At least start this path by finding your ECU, check its condition, spray plugs and pins with a suitable cleaner. And post up the numbers on ECU in case a reader has same to offer you. A mate fixed a minor ecu problem by contact spray of plugs. There are 20 different ecu part numbers for EA82 worldwide, over a decade
