  1. Just a comment, axle replacement is essentially the same for EA81 and EA82 vehicles (at least up to '89). I suspect it's the same for the '90 and later EA82's, it's just that I haven't done one of that vintage. One change I need to make to my original write-up. After replacing the pivot bolt, do not tighten it until the repair is complete and the car is back on the ground. Tighten the pivot bolt then with the suspension under load. I got that info from the Subaru Guru and it makes sense to take some pressure off the rubber bushing.
  2. Meeky Mouse: Sorry you had such a hard time with it. Some axles are that hard, but you took way too many things apart. I'm a firm believer in what I don't take apart, I don't have to put back together. Anyway, I finally found my write-up in the USRM for axle repairs. Next time I do one, I think I'll take photos and re-post it. Anyway read the thread for the next time you think about doing an axle. Generally, I've been able to do them in under an hour without special tools (other than the Craftsman 42885 WF drift, 36mm socket and a sledge hammer). Sometimes things are so rusted together it could take longer. Here's the thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49959
  3. Found this link searching earlier threads (thanks ferret): http://www.obddiagnostics.com/ Anyone used this on a '97 Impreza (or similar) and what kind of results did you get? The software looks impressive; I've just heard that Subaru doesn't adhere to the standard wiring.
  4. Eastern Washington; if you're near Spokane and haven't bought the replacement radiator, try Spalding Auto Wreckers. They have the best price on new replacement radiators that I've found. 800-366-2070
  5. Walked the entire yard today looking for an EA81; only found one. However, there are 4 or 5 early Legacies and about a half-dozen GL/Loyale series cars.
  6. Apparently the silver accel coils are the troublemakers. I've had a yellow one on my Brat for over 6 years without a stitch of trouble.
  7. Great thread with more pics. Catch the sequence of shots on car 102 (near the end of the thread) as he recovers from an almost roll! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1268721
  8. More pix: http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27232
  9. Some pix from Wayne Flynn. http://www.pdxsports.com/photos/showindex.asp?folder=2007OLY
  10. If there was anything else new, I would have mentioned it.
  11. I'd add an alternator belt to your collection. Maybe a clutch cable too, just in case. Good luck to you.
  12. They are nice also; and pretty rare. If you want another four drop me a PM.
  13. New '90 or '91 LS sedan in the yard today. A really decent set of front seats in grey "mouse fur." If they were blue I would have taken them to replace the ones in my wagon which are starting to fray around the edges.
  14. I'm really fond of the Hakki snow and WR. Both of them are pretty decent rallycross tires and not too shabby on pavement, especially in the rain.
  15. These are still my favorite wheels: I have more pics of various wheels in my Wheels album: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=598 I have other wheel pictures in various albums, stuff for sale, rally wheels. Feel free to browse. The Stuff for Sale album is NOT current but it does have some nice pics.
  16. Google the Silverstone tire website and check out what's available. You'll often be able to buy used rally tires from the pro rally folk. A little worn but still well usable for rallyX and a good dirt tire that is still usable on pavement for minimal use.
  17. I stand corrected, no Wal-Mart in Lacey. http://www.priceviewer.com/walmart_locations/WA.html Closest locations to ORV park are Shelton and Aberdeen. Here's the info on the Costco in Lacey. Exit off I-5 just after Nisqually Basin. http://www.costco.com/Warehouse/locator.aspx?cm_re=1-_-Top_Right_Nav1-_-Top_locations Oddly enough, the link requires you enter Lacey, WA each time. Sorry. Stupid software!
  18. I believe the nearest Wal-Mart is in Lacey (off of I-5 just north of Olympia; quick off and on). I'll get you better information as soon as I can. This exit also has a number of other stores as well as a grocery for supplies and a Costco for "bulk" food.
  19. Since you're likely going to stay the weekend, bring your camping gear. There might be a motel within 15 miles if you don't plan on camping overnight, but I really don't know. Bring food; I'm sure the ORV vendor will be there but the menu is limited. Raingear; not that I want to be a pessimist but the event is prior to the July 5th switch to sunshine that normally occurs. I can't think of anything else right now. Oh, bring your rallycross car and helmet!
