  1. Bummer! So how much boost have you been running?
  2. My RX did that originally too (and still does when it's very, very cold out). I cleaned the side that went into the speedo cluster and it helped. May also want to check for hard bends in the cable. If it's being bound up by anything that will cause it move slowly.
  3. no problem. Also, the intake plumbing is a bit different. If you go with that flange, you'll be able to upgrade to a td04 as well (although the intake plumbing on it is even more different).
  4. well the rally was cancelled due to weather. as for your turbo question. You'll have to chage the up-pipe flange, but if you're using a wrx downpipe, that will work for the outlet side. You can get the up-pipe flange from subachad: http://www.uniquemotorsports.com
  5. lol.... sweet! Are you going to the highlands rally sunday?
  6. How do you contact these CCR folks, and do the sell short-blocks only?
  7. I agree with most everything Shane said about the recirc valve vs atmospheric. However, I have no off throttle stumble or anything with the current setup, so i'm staying this route for now. I wonder how the car is running for the kid up in Asheville who put the RFL on his. On a side note: (ROFL....) The fun has truely begun! I decided to up the boost a bit to further my 'research'. So the car is hitting about 15psi and holding 13psi or so. Well that's in first gear anyway. Then when you lift to change gears, the bov pops and you stand on it again it blows the vaccum line to the bov off of the manifold! ROFL.... Guess it's time for a few claps on some of the vaccum lines! I thought it was odd how the bov went away after first gear. Fun! :burnout:
  8. because that sound is the turbo taking the hit of it's pressure when you snap the throttle shut. It's like you running into a door that someone slams in your face. Starts to hurt after a while, huh. lol....
  9. The car is an '88 RX. The line comes from the manifold down in the area near the turbo inlet. there is a little nipple sticking up there. Meeky, that sound, that sounds like a bov, is your turbo wearing itself out.
  10. actually I just got a td04 for free! Needs a rebuild (oil seals) but other than that, good to go! lol....
  11. well it would be a different story if it was bolt up, but it's not. and stock wrx turbos can be had for under $150 if you catch a deal.
  12. Just wanted to give people a heads up and get some folks on board for a dyno day. There is a shop with a Mustang awd dyno up in Mooresville (as most of you have heard by now). It'll be mostly just for pulls, no major tuning, and any minor tuning, would be done by you. I'm hoping to run the rx a couple of times as well as the legacy. Date: January 18th, 2004 Location: Mooresville, NC (more info on how to get there coming later) Cost: ~$90/hr (3 pulls for ~$50) Please post if you're in and I'll keep a running list here. Steven (sticky please. )
  13. just more boost related info: http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8523 can we make this the offical boost info thread? hehe..
  14. would be good to post a link to this thread in here: http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8523 as those are my plans for the dyno day.
  15. So I decided to tear into a spare (thanks wjm) RX turbo and one from a turbo legacy that I had here at the house. Here are the pics: TURBO FUN I have decided I'm not so sure it is worth it to modify/adapt etc the leagcy's turbo to fit the ea82t. I think time/money would be better spent having the stock ea82t's turbo clipped/polished/etc. And if you wanted more than that, it would be best to move along to replacing the stock up-pipe flange to accept a td04 & replace the stock downpipe to fit. So first step for me is send away a stock ea82 turbo to a friend who does the 'monster td04's' for the wrx. I will let him work his magic on it. Hopefully I'll have this done in time for our January dyno day. I'll plan to run first thing in the morning on the stock turbo, then switch while others get some dyno time, then do some pulls with the revamped turbo. I hope to then look into changing the flanges and go with a td04. But all in due time. lol..... Anyway, take a look at the photos, chime in if you have played with these things yourself and have an opinion, and pay close not to the measurements taken of the fresh air and ehxust inlet housings, as they really are not much different in size. Steven
  16. Ah, good point. Although I think it was just loose. I gave it a little bit of a pinch and it seems to stay put now. (Of course, it'll probably build up presure and shoot through the hood now. LOL.....)
  17. well I was actually just going to crip the cap down a little bit and see if it wouldn't stay, but I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any other reason that this is happening.
  18. Cool. Well I have spoken with the dyno owner, and I WILL be organizing a awd dyno day sometime in Janurary. I'm checking all the schedules right now. Hopefully I'll know a date by tonight. I want to dyno the rx and the legacy.
  19. Yep, I currently only have full speed on mine becuase of that.
  20. Well that's how I felt when I got the RX up and running, and I decided the only way to know was just drive it! (just get AAA) lol.....
  21. Shane, do you want to get in with us at the dyno here in mooresville if I can get us a deal? I may try to arrange enough people to fill 1 day and see what kind of price he will give us. If so, when do you want to do it?
