  1. If both of you are lucky, you might be able to keep up with MY RX!
  2. Will, you probably should have used a picture of mine, instead of the hose that you gehto installed the bypass vent into. lol....
  3. Better clean up that oil! Mike's gonna scream! lol... So I guess I see what you did today.
  4. You may want to try Folger Subaru. They are here in Charlotte, NC. You will want to speak with Mike in the parts department. I have purchased a head gasket kit for cheaper or near the same price as one from NAPA. It's worth checking with him, as the Subaru factory head gasket kit is highly recomended for the turbo car. They can ship if needed. Number is: (toll free) (800) 527-7020
  5. For factory Subaru parts you can contact Folger Subaru. They are here in Charlotte, NC. You will want to speak with Mike in the parts department. Can't state a discount amount, as it will probably vary a bit depending on the size ($) of the item. I will however say, I have purchased some stock stuff (head gasket kit) for cheaper or near the same price as one from NAPA. It's worth checking with them if it's an important part and you want to stick with factory stuff. They can ship if needed. Number is: (toll free) (800) 527-7020 Steven
  6. I hope to start working on some Delrin bushings for our cars soon. I may be able to get some poly sway bar bushings as well.
  7. Or the option of TD04 flanges, which they can pickup from www.uniquemotorsports.com if they don't want to fab them.
  8. They were custom made by one of our local autocrossers. He said he would make more, but wanted $200/set as he wasn't really interested in making more. It's very possibly you can use a Impreza/Legacy/WRX front camber plate. I know wjm had to slightly modify the old set I had on my legacy, but he was able to fit them in both his rx and his wagon. The one downside was having to pound in the bump on the inside of the strut tower for spring clearence. I may consider making some of those plates cheaper if the person who designed it doesn't mind, and I find a good source for the bearings.
  9. Thanks. Pictures are up: http://photos.drbiggly.com/grm-2004/index.html
  10. We're back from the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine $2004 Challenge. I didn't post about the build up here, as I was too busy working on the car. lol.... Big thanks to WJM and the time he put in on the car as well as the time he spent listening to me curse and jump up and down about random different things during the sub-2 week build up. Some pics of the buildup can be found here: http://www.subaruworld.net/rx/challenge.html and I will hopefully have some event pics up soon. Overall we finished 42nd out of 80-some cars. For our first time at the event, I wasn't too upset, but I would have liked to been at least top 20. (don't worry, the plans are in order for next year and they include an old school subie with big power!) Next year I'm going for the win!! 1987 RX - 3 Door Drag Strip: Best time 16.3sec 1/4 mile Autcross: Best time 57.7xx (ftd was 54.6xx I belive and it was a GLHS Omni IIRC) Car show we finished just above the top 1/2 of the cars. The mods of the car: cone filter, no 2nd cat, glasspack muffler, stock downpipe. Delta Cams, fresh head job, 14psi stock turbo, springs 250lb front 300lb rear, custom made camber/castor plate. Engine reassembly using stock gasket kit, new water pump, several new hoses, new stock clutch. The car roasts the tires on launch at the strip, and revs very freely into the redline with no fuel cut. I did notice fuel cut a couple of times when entering the interstate. It wasn't at full throttle, but rather 75% and only when sitting around 10psi. Steven
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/usmb/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=92157#post92157 seems there are several who don't like MMO. How can this be? :burnout:
  12. It's called a legacy. Because of the subframe spacers the outback uses, it makes the plugs hard to change. It's not so bad in the standard legacy as the motor sits higher in the bay (or the bay sits lower around the motor).
  13. Any reason why you wouldn't use it in your car? I love the stuff! Makes the RX run like it's on fire and I've had many friends who have solved lifter noise problems by running it in the oil. The legacy loves Techron, but that darn stuff is expensive! I've just recently used the marvel in the legacy and it seems to be running better.
  14. well I'm still scratching my head at the manual boost controller. With the hole, the damn thing won't run less than 17psi! (fun, but a little on the edge, you know)
  15. Don't be too disappointed with the numbers! Did you see the numbers for my GT? I knew the rx was faster. Also, wjm, I've figgured out why the boost wouldn't hold over 10psi, even after I adjusted it: The current boost controller doesn't have the hole in the side of it, so it gets that intial surge because of how tight the spring is, but then it can't do anything to control the flow. It needs that hole to let some of the air out so it can run higher. I might run the legacy's laterl link up there today to see if I can press it straight. I'll be taking the rx up, I may thow that other boost controller I have with the hole in it in case the evo guys will let me sneek in 2 pulls. hehe... Also, so everyone knows. We had 20 cars on the dyno yesterday and almost all of them had very acurate numbers for what was done to the cars. Stock WRX's were turnning between 150-160whp, which is dead on for a mustang dyno. The highest power came from a svt cobra with 100 shot! 323whp!!!! There was an evo close behind with 318hp (on the stock turbo! ) lol.....
  16. you mean it's not just point and shoot with subies? hehe... (and sideways and point and shoot and etc. )
  17. Fuel injectors. I had this problem with my 98gt when it had about 20k miles. Dealership never could reslove the problem, so I started checking it out. Replaced all the ignition componets (out of my pocket), finally decided to swap two of the fuel injectors. Problem jumped from Cyl 1-3 misfire to Cyl 2-4 misfire. It was just one injector causing the codes though. You might first try some Techron (the chevron fuel injector cleaner) or some marvel mystery oil (in the fuel). Anyhoo, good luck with it.
  18. It's supposed to make a big difference, not really in the HP range, but in driveablity with the new soobs. (didn't look at the link, but the whole better grounds thing anyway)
  19. welcome to why I can't put stainless brake lines on my Legacy.
  20. Skip, thanks for the props. I honestly have had no problem with the BOV. The car doesn't stumble, doens't hesitate, doesn't try to die when coming to a stop. Who knows. With all the work you have put into your car, why haven't you switched to the spyder intake? (just curious)
  21. I've tried putting my GT seats in my RX, and it just doesn't work. It's going to take custom fabrication. The seat brackets are different, and I couldn't switch the ones from the RX onto the leagacy seats either.
