  1. I have not noticed it doing the fuel cut when holding it in for 5 or more seconds, however, the turbo does seem to fall off about 6k by the time you hit 3rd gear. WJM is here, we'll go test it some more. hehe...
  2. oh, and I used a spare subaru bolt that I had for the adjustment screw. So it's fully SOA approved! (THAT IS A JOKE OF COURSE! SOA please do not come repo my nice RX. lol...)
  3. I went from this page: http://www.geocities.com/chmwatson/FAQs/mbc.html but I bought slightly different parts. I spent a total of $9.00 and an ink pen. lol..... If you want to get all the parts in one location (ie home depot, lowes), you can get a female air hose quick disconnect for the ball bearing. That's what did it for me. I kept thinking, now where in the hell am I going to come up with one little ball bearing. lol..... Plus you'll have 3 more bearings for making more controllers. hehe.... Sort of like $9 in parts for the first, and about $6.50 in parts for the next 3! lol....
  4. Ok, so the boost is dialed in at 12psi now, and I still don't seem to be hitting the fuel cut. Any ideas? The car just stepped sideways when I launched to get across traffic! What a beast!
  5. You thinks right! I just threw the springs on a spring dyno a minute ago. The RX spring was ~160lb and the other was ~130lb! What a difference! No wonder the car was sitting a little funny. The place that had the spring dyno, also has some other goodies. hehe... More info to come on that in the future.
  6. What's the rated weight, etc? That would be nice to have.
  7. Yes EGT=Exhaust Gas Temp A/F= Air/fuel mixture of course. The egt has a probe that goes in the ehxuast and measure the exhaust temp. Pretty simple eh. lol....
  8. Thanks for the reply! I re-adjusted this morning, and it's running right around 12psi. The car is strong! OMG! lol... I think it did hit the cut though. Somewhere about 12psi & 6krpm. It was right as I was just before I let off the gas to slow down, so I'm not sure that's what it was. I'll have to investigate later. hehe... EGT and A/F are in the near future for sure. It's nice now, as it's cold outside.
  9. More info to come, but the short of the story: Installed a MBC (manual boost controller) tonight. The homemade type of course... The car was peaking ~17psi. Yes I KNOW this is to high. lol.... But I didn't say I held it there. I re-adjusted and it's around 11psi-12psi now. That's a little more manageable. lol.... But the intersting thing is, even the couple of times that I let it get up very high, the car did not show any sign of fuel cut, nor was there any audible detonation! My rx is a '88 with an '89 motor, so it should definatly have the electronic cut according to everything I've read. Who knows! More updates when it's dialed in a little more tomorrow.
  10. Maybe I'll get mine done first and you'll have a local source. lol....
  11. exactly the route I hoped to go with my buildup.
  12. Guess tonights findings help answer these questions: (all measurements taken in inches) 1.86 - long hole depth 3.86 - head thickness 0.044 - head gasket 5.44 - bottom of washer to end of threads (long bolt) totals: hole+head+gasket = 5.764 (height) height-bolt = 0.324 (tolerence) ---------------------------------- 0.644 - recess in head 1.936 - short hole depth 4.495 - bottom of washer to end of threads (short bolt) totals: (head thickness-recess)+gasket+hole = 5.196 (height) height-bolt = 0.701 (tolerence) pics to come tomorrow night.
  13. Probably should put the disclaimer: Note: two of those videos (the avi's) are 18mb each! lol...
  14. I'll vouch for the launch! It made the legacy's look very very bland! lol.... I very much loved the 1st low to 1st high shift! lol.... Will, I'll try to setup ftp access for you on my site in just a minute.
  15. will, you're still coming out right? (to the autocross that is). I'm on my way out now.
  16. For anyone looking for them, http://www.uniquemotorsports.com (subachad from nabisco) sell flanges for the td04's.
  17. No I just found it by doing a search on this message board. lol..... When I saw this thread I knew I had seen something about this before. It was subarutex who originally posted a link to it. Here's the thread: http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6093&highlight=13psi

  19. Hey, shoot me an email: pleiades@subaruworld.net
  20. Yeah I'll be there. Actually one of the organizers of that event came out to our event today. Nice guy. Hopefully it'll be a fun event. Unfortunatly, I don't know if I'll be running the legacy or not, as my finace had a bit of an off-roading incident in it today. The rear passenger tire a wee bit of positive camber. Hope to run to a nearby body shop tomorrow and let them have a look.
  21. Oh, and I signed up for that nasa autocross. (gotta keep an eye on the competition. hehe... )
  22. Cool! You're in the Charlotte area? I live in huntersville! We also do a lot of autocrosses down at Knights Stadium in Ft. Mill (1 exit south of carowinds). Matter of fact, there's one tomorrow! (November 2nd). Come on out! Since I don't have a spiffy sig, I drive: '98 legacy gt '88 rx 3 door
  23. Yep, thanks! (I did use original door panels, just stripped them down and re-covered).
  24. No name snow tires. Got the set of 4 mounted for $180. They are 175/85/13's and they go like stink in the snow! lol.... I'm going to start daily driving the RX as my Legacy is getting setup to do some track events, and I'm just tired of beating it to death driving it on crappy roads every day. That being said, I'm planning on getting rid of these tires (either sell, or hopefully take them up to the mountains one weekend and see if I can get a place that does used tires to cut me a deal). Unfortunatly one has a knot in the sidewall from our trip down to the sandhills clubrally last spring. I'm not sure how it happend, but I imagine we caught a rock in the deep sand. Pretty fun driving in sand up to the front lip, and pulling a stuck 2wd rally car out! lol....
