  1. If both of you are lucky, you might be able to keep up with MY RX!
  2. Will, you probably should have used a picture of mine, instead of the hose that you gehto installed the bypass vent into. lol....
  3. Better clean up that oil! Mike's gonna scream! lol... So I guess I see what you did today.
  4. You may want to try Folger Subaru. They are here in Charlotte, NC. You will want to speak with Mike in the parts department. I have purchased a head gasket kit for cheaper or near the same price as one from NAPA. It's worth checking with him, as the Subaru factory head gasket kit is highly recomended for the turbo car. They can ship if needed. Number is: (toll free) (800) 527-7020
  5. For factory Subaru parts you can contact Folger Subaru. They are here in Charlotte, NC. You will want to speak with Mike in the parts department. Can't state a discount amount, as it will probably vary a bit depending on the size ($) of the item. I will however say, I have purchased some stock stuff (head gasket kit) for cheaper or near the same price as one from NAPA. It's worth checking with them if it's an important part and you want to stick with factory stuff. They can ship if needed. Number is: (toll free) (800) 527-7020 Steven
  6. I hope to start working on some Delrin bushings for our cars soon. I may be able to get some poly sway bar bushings as well.
  7. Or the option of TD04 flanges, which they can pickup from www.uniquemotorsports.com if they don't want to fab them.
  8. They were custom made by one of our local autocrossers. He said he would make more, but wanted $200/set as he wasn't really interested in making more. It's very possibly you can use a Impreza/Legacy/WRX front camber plate. I know wjm had to slightly modify the old set I had on my legacy, but he was able to fit them in both his rx and his wagon. The one downside was having to pound in the bump on the inside of the strut tower for spring clearence. I may consider making some of those plates cheaper if the person who designed it doesn't mind, and I find a good source for the bearings.
  9. Thanks. Pictures are up: http://photos.drbiggly.com/grm-2004/index.html
  10. We're back from the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine $2004 Challenge. I didn't post about the build up here, as I was too busy working on the car. lol.... Big thanks to WJM and the time he put in on the car as well as the time he spent listening to me curse and jump up and down about random different things during the sub-2 week build up. Some pics of the buildup can be found here: http://www.subaruworld.net/rx/challenge.html and I will hopefully have some event pics up soon. Overall we finished 42nd out of 80-some cars. For our first time at the event, I wasn't too upset, but I would have liked to been at least top 20. (don't worry, the plans are in order for next year and they include an old school subie with big power!) Next year I'm going for the win!! 1987 RX - 3 Door Drag Strip: Best time 16.3sec 1/4 mile Autcross: Best time 57.7xx (ftd was 54.6xx I belive and it was a GLHS Omni IIRC) Car show we finished just above the top 1/2 of the cars. The mods of the car: cone filter, no 2nd cat, glasspack muffler, stock downpipe. Delta Cams, fresh head job, 14psi stock turbo, springs 250lb front 300lb rear, custom made camber/castor plate. Engine reassembly using stock gasket kit, new water pump, several new hoses, new stock clutch. The car roasts the tires on launch at the strip, and revs very freely into the redline with no fuel cut. I did notice fuel cut a couple of times when entering the interstate. It wasn't at full throttle, but rather 75% and only when sitting around 10psi. Steven
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/usmb/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=92157#post92157 seems there are several who don't like MMO. How can this be? :burnout:
  12. It's called a legacy. Because of the subframe spacers the outback uses, it makes the plugs hard to change. It's not so bad in the standard legacy as the motor sits higher in the bay (or the bay sits lower around the motor).
  13. Any reason why you wouldn't use it in your car? I love the stuff! Makes the RX run like it's on fire and I've had many friends who have solved lifter noise problems by running it in the oil. The legacy loves Techron, but that darn stuff is expensive! I've just recently used the marvel in the legacy and it seems to be running better.
  14. well I'm still scratching my head at the manual boost controller. With the hole, the damn thing won't run less than 17psi! (fun, but a little on the edge, you know)
