Thanks for the tips. I know what you mean about the TC bolts. Not much room at all. Cant see how I am going to get them back on without droping when I put other trans in. Everything unbolted and just about ready to come out. Might mark 2 piece drive shaft so not unbalanced. Glad to know TC has to come out with trans cause I was about going to try to take it down with TC still bolted. Antmore tips ??? thanks

Have to pull trans out of my sons 95 Impreza 2.2 wagon. The 6 bolts from the exaust are rusted bad. Talking bout the 3 on each side from under the car . Worried if they will snap off if I use a big breaker bar. Is there an easy way of to get them out ??? Dont want to mess up the treads in the heads. thanks

Ran just fine and light went out without having to reset. Best $2.87 I ever spent on Gumout highmileage fuel injector cleaner. Power came back just like it ran when I first bought it.

Thanks Gary, cant feel a thing from behind the light to get at the bulb,may just have to pull whole thing out.

2001 Outback 3.0. I have a dry day where I can fix this fog light. Do I have to take the whole light out just to change the bulb ?? I see 2, 10mm bolts above. Took off plastic cover. Does the bulb come out of the back or does the glass come off the front ??? thanks

2001 Outback 3.0 VDC, check engine light on , code 171. What to look for and the cause. Anybody here had this problem and what did you do to fix it. Cleared code but came back on about 2 hours later. Also VDC off light comes and goes thanks

Can not find anything on here about VDC, maby some one here has the same problem. 2001 Outback 3.0 with VDC. Yesterday pulled out of parking lot and about a 1/2 mile down the road my check engine light and VDC off light came on. I saw nothing wrong under the hood, still had awd in the snow, brakes and steering are fine. Nothing strange or different about the way it drives. Turned off car and restarted thinking it might reset but light showing VDC off was still there. Only problem I hate about the car is whenever we have a little deep snow is how bad it packs between the rear tires and body that every time you hit a bump or make a turn you can hear it dig in and scrap the snow back there. And thats with new springs and struts. No matter how much you chip it out it comes right back. Maby they should make heated wheel wells. lol OK guys whats the answer. Will the light be off today when I go out and restart it ??? And if not what could be the problem ??? How do you turn this VDC back on, I dont see any button or switch. Please let the answer be its not gonna cost me more money. thanks

I need to remove my passenger side seat on my 2001 Outback to get at the amplifier mounted under it. Juts want to know if there is any danger of side air bag going off. Has anyone done this, and how many bolts hold amp to floor. thanks

Well I will be getting a refund or another radio from Ebay so no great loss. Reason I went for the deal cause they said it was tested in the car before they pulled it out. May just go with an aftermarket if they cant come up with one that works.

Why did they ever put a radio with so many problems in a Subaru ???? I have the 2001 Outback H6 with McIntosh sound system. Not bad mouthing the great sound it puts out, "when its working", but what is up with the cd players ??? Error 2, Error 6, Error 12. My God you rur a cd cleaning disc and still have problems. It gets cold out, no cd player till it warms up in car. Sometimes. And the price to repair in Florida is $200.00 to $300.00. And no one on this earth can tell you what these error codes mean. What is the great secret to these codes ??? Its like asking the guy in a transmission shop what is the problem. Its a secret,,,,,,,,,,, cause if I give you the answer you could fix it yourself. Well anyway being stupid I bought another Mcintosh off of good ol Ebay that seller said was tested and cd player works just fine. Took my old one out and put new in. Put a cd in and" Error,Error,Error". I could have bit a hole in my dash !!! I dont want to ride around and hear my wife sing, just want my cd player to work. Anybody got an old one I can rip apart and see what makes it work ? How bout you Gary, you ever get your stuff fixed. good luck you guys with the same radio

We have a 95 Impreza 2.2 L wagon automatic AWD with no reverse and need to know for sure if a automatic transmission from a 96 Impreza 2 door with a 2.2 will fit the L wagon. Need to know ASAP before I miss this deal on this trans. My sons car is missing the number tag on top of his trans but the number tag on the trans we are gonna buy is TZ102ZA4 BA-GF another number is 082909. thanks

how does the 95 subaru impreza l wagon 2.2 engine automatic transmission fully work i would really like too know because my subbie will not go into reverse but i can mess around and get it to go into reverse and it will stay for about a hour then when i go to put it into reverse again it seems like its in neutral and all other gears do work thanx

2001 Outback 3.0 wagon,130,000 miles. Went on a 700 mile trip to Chicago last week and noticed at stops a small amount of smoke coming out from under car. Checked things out and saw nothing wrong. When I got back to WV my local Subaru dealer was offering an free October car check out. I went for it to see if they could see what maby I missed since they have a rack to get a better look. I wasent ready for an oil change yet but they said the oil filter may be leaking.They wanted to change the oil filter and put back in the old oil. I said no way just give me the whole oil change. They had 2 tecks look under car for about 20 mins and came back and said I may need valve cover gaskets. I say how much we looking at ( thinking about $200 in my head ) , He looks at some paper and says about $800 with parts. I said what,do you have to pull the engine out to do the job. He says no it calls for 7 hours labor,and while we are doing that we may as well change the oil cooler and seals. I asked then why the oil cooler if its not bad cant you just change the seals. He says thats what Subaru calls for. I payed for my oil change and got far from there fast. Now come on guys 7 hours. Is this true ??? Have any of you guys changed these valve cover gaskets on the 3.0, how hard is it and how long did it take you ??? And why would you need another oid cooler ??? Maby they dont know what may be leaking cause you cant see much with the belly cover on any way. thanks

My son has a 95 Impreza that we just put a new 2.2 engine in. Car runs and drives like brand new, in fact I think it runs better than my 2001 3.0 Outback. Now he wants to be like the rest of the young guys and have a muffler with some sound to it. Problem is here in small town Beckley WV the cops dont like loud mufflers and give these kids tickets for it. So what can my crazy boy put on there that would still be legal and give the 2.2 a good sound ???? Me myself I like it quiet so I can hear the engine if anything goes wrong. You cant hear a thing if the radio is blasting and the muffler is loud. lol thanks

I got it !!! It runs just fine. No check engine light came on. Cut EGR tube in half,smashed cut end with ballpene hammer so no air escapes, and bolted other end back to EGR hole. I thank you guys for all your great info. Im happy,and my sons happy he can drive his Impreza again. You guys are great and this web site is the best. thanks:banana:
