  1. What kind of socket do you use on the valve cover bolts on the 95 2.2 engine. thanks
  2. Thanks for the great advice guys. Was just worried about running without EGR. I typed in on the net ( can you run a car without an EGR ) and read some not so good news. Like burning valve seals, and too much heat in the piston chamebers and rough running. And than some people say they have no problem at all. One way or another its gonna run. Its too hot to pull it out again and my boy cant wait to drive it. lol WE put TOO much work in this for it not to run. We pulled this engine out by hand with a treated 4x4 post and a cable in 90 degree heat and put the other one in the same way. Im sure after this my boy will learn to check the oil so he dont blow another one, cause the next engine hes on his own. Im getting too old for this. thanks guys
  3. Pulled out a blown 2.2 out of my sons 95 Impreza and put another 2.2 engine in. Got everything hooked back up and last thing was the tube from EGR valve. I found there is no hole for the other end of the tube in the bottom left side head. Did they make some different kind of set up for the EGR valve on some 2.2 engines ???? Im stuck now big time. Need some help guys. I dont think I can plug EGR and run without it. HELP !!!

  10. I am pulling a 2.2 engine out of a 95 Impreza with an auto trans. Maby I can get some tips here. Everything disconnected but trans and motor mounts. 11. I have a 96 legacy outback with the 2.5 engine and its automatic and i was wondering why it keeps overheating it seems like everytime i drive for about 3 to 4 hours it overheats when i check the oil it is full when i check the radiator all the antifreeze goes right into the recovery tank when i let it sit to cool all the antifreeze disappears. I put a new oil filter on and put new oil in, i changed out the temperature control swich and the cooling fans work, i put a new radiator cap on and changed the antifreeze, then we burped it twice. no oil leaks or water leaks no where, no smoke no blown head gaskets everythings good on it beside the antifreeze disappearing and overheating. if any1 can help me thanx
  12. 2001 Leg Outback 3.0 H6. Need to know if the top pulley with the bearing inside that the main belt rides on that runs alt, power steering is interchangable with any other Subaru pulleys. Also if any of you have one let me know. thanks
  13. Maby someone here did this before. Replacing right rear glass in a 96 Outback. How do you get the trim or gutter off that sits above the glass ? I pulled down some of the head liner and from what I can see in the small holes in the upper body it almost looks like rivets. Anybody know how ??? thanks

  15. Fixing up a 96 Leg Outback wrecked in rear end. Bumper cover was ripped off and steel bumper that was under cover was crushed in the center. Can not seem to see any bolts under car to remove this. Is the steel bumper thats under the cover welded on or is it part of the body frame it self ????

  20. 2001 Outback 3.0. Right side wheel bearing problem. First time replaced the bearing was about 5 years ago and used Subaru part. I got about 2 years out of that one. The next time I went with a bearing from Advance and that one lasted over 3 years. About 2 weeks ago I had another Advance bearing installed and I am getting noise out of this one after just 2 weeks of driving. Eveything was done at a shop and now the guy cant get me back in till next Wednesday to check it out. I did some reading and found Subaru had put out a bad right side steering knuckle on the 2001. Maby this is whats making the bearing go bad.Has anyone else had this problem with bearings and does Subaru replace these bad steering knuckles at no charge ????? I also would like to know if the steering knuckle is the same on all 2001 Outbacks no matter what the engine size. I have owned Subarus since 1980 and never had a wheel bearing problem on one of them. Why just the right side all the time ??? Need some answers. thanks
  21. I have a 95 Impreza Lx wagon 4x4 with the 2.2 engine. I would like to know if I could put a 2.5 from an 96 4x4 Outback wagon in mine without any problems. What all would have to be changed such as would my trans mount up and would I have to chang wiring or the computer box ??? Any of you guys done this before ?? thanks
  22. 2001 Outback H6-3.0. Car runs fine but batt and brake light flicker on and off sometimes. No starting or brake problems. Breaks replaced last month. Good belt and idler bearing. Battery about a year old. Anyone had this problem please let me know what you found. thanks
  23. 2001 Outback. Anyone know what the error codes mean on that brand name CD player ? Ran a cd cleaner in the player but did not solve the problem. I find that I have trouble more in the winter when its cold outside. It will not play a cd till it gets pretty warm in car. I get code er 3. Its always been a fussy cd player on what type of cd's it plays. Also is it very hard to take system out and clean the laser myself ? Went to Mc Intosh web site but it has nothing on what all the error codes stand for. Thanks
  24. Junk. Some called a Quick Boot. Some glue together some screw together some snap together. A sort of hard boot that will not flex enough when wheels are fully turned. They will break open again and you will lose the grease you have to buy extra. Not worth your time or money.
  25. It was the Coolant Temperture Sensor !! Not an easy thing to find or get at. Its buried under a bunch of other wires. If anyone else has problem finding it, my best way to explain is follow the hose from your PCV down to where it clamps to intake manifold and you will see a brown plug under a bunch of wires that goes to the CTS on your right. A 17mm deep well socket gets it out. Getting the connector off was my biggest problem. A job for someone with small hands to get in there. But now the cooling fan works. Thanks guys for all your help. This site has saved me hundreds of dollars ( that I dont have ) in repairs if I had to take it in to a shop and have the work done on my cars. My son is happy and so am I, and im happy my sons first car is a Subaru. thanks for all the help:banana:
