  1. It was a little delayed, but it's in my garage now. Snapped a few quick pics if anyone is interested.
  2. I originally posted this in off-topic before brilliantly remembering that THIS section of the forum exists... so if it duplicates, I apologize (other one hasn't been approved by mods, so no foul so far) It would appear I'm getting a new project. My brother-in-law needs some $$ and is selling me his '72 Super Beetle for a really good price. 1600cc, 4-speed, decent body (dinged and dented, but THERE and not rusty), good tranny, and an engine that needs minor work (a plug sleeve and minor exhaust work)... and I'm getting it for what rusty, engineless wrecks are going for around here. And I'm not ruling out the possibility of it ending up with Subaru power either. Should have it in my garage by this coming friday, if all goes as planned.
  3. Guess someone has already forgotten one of the not so fine points of customer service: Don't argue with the customer over what they want. Especially when they're going to pay you for it.
  4. It might be, I'm not sure. I can't ever recall it being well... moved. It was always there, always seemed to be in the same place, with the same angle on the front tires. It has to have been moved at some point at least to put air in them though because if it had been sitting exposed that long at least one tire should be flat.
  5. So that cyclops hatch is a block from your house, eh? I know right where you live then, I used to drive by that car oh, 4x a week for 3 years for work. And that is one clean looking hatch you have.
  6. My Subaru past comes back to "haunt" me! It's good to see you around, Brian. Like Brian, I am also a recent hire of Wave Broadband, as a tech services rep. I work in the Kirkland call center, obviously. After my brief stint in car sales, I was lured away from that job by an "offer" from Boeing for a $26/hr graveyard shift job. I figured for that much money I couldn't refuse. Well, the offer was yanked from under me after I had turned in notice at the dealership (which, as those of you who have ever worked car sales before, means you're basically fired anyway)... So I spent another 6 months unemployed. YAY! Now I'm employed again and working my butt off. Unfortunately, it was not soon enough to save my BRAT, and I was forced to sell it a few months back. You all probably saw it on CL (in fact, I know you did, because someone posted it on here). *sigh*....
  7. Early 90's Mazda Protege seats bolt to the EA81 rails with almost no modification (just need to slot the front holes of the passenger side rails slightly. Plentiful in junkyards, way more comfortable than stock seats.
  8. Thanks guys... just got it fixed in time. The plugs were borked. Replaced 'em and it runs perfect!
  9. Still, thoroughly inspect and adjust the throttle cable, make sure anything there that needs to be lubricated is. I've had a throttle cable stick for a few seconds on an old American V8 before, it's scary as hell...
  10. I need a fast "save your bacon" answer here, and I need it in 2 hours or less... '82 BRAT... EA 81 with Weber carb. When it's cold, it stumbles/misfires like hell from 1750-2750 RPM, then gets better at about 3k, and flawless at 4k RPM. Once warmed up, there is no stumble at all if the throttle is applied gently... but if I ask for power, it still stumbles/misfires from 2250-2750 (but not quite as bad as before), then not as bad from 3k-4k, then flawless... It was running great before I put it in the garage for the winter. I've tried carb cleaner and new fuel with no effect. Quick ideas as to what's wrong?
  11. Glad you're OK... sorry about the BRAT. If you go see your general practitioner, they'll probably give you pain meds and tell you you're ok. But CTs and X-rays can't check for soft tissue damage and other stuff normally associated with whiplash. Go see a chiropractor. Since the other person's insurance is probably paying for it anyway, it's good to get the opinion of someone who specializes in back/auto injuries... but this is an "always Always ALWAYS" when it comes to auto accidents. I myself was hit a couple years ago and my GP said "take vicodin and call me later." I hate narcotics, so instead I went and saw a chiro and he put me through a course of treatments over two months and my back ended up feeling better afterwards than BEFORE the accident.
  12. The column on my BRAT was like that all the way home from California. Replaced the column with a junkyard unit and it works great now. Whatever joint it is that made the thing tilt had failed, and wouldn't actually lock into place. Simplest, cheapest fix was a replacement column. This is, of course, assuming it's an EA81. If it is, and you can't find a column with a key, you can just swap the ignition and turn signal from your old column onto the replacement.
  13. Caps - He's talking about various dealerships selling them, internet priced, for 15,900 after rebates. Which doesn't apply to every dealer (it depends on how much a dealer is willing to cut their price). And Caps is right, bheinen. In order to qualify for $4500 under C4C, he would have had to purchase an SUV, Class 1 Truck, or Van that gets at least 18MPG AND 5 better MPG (EPA combined) than his old truck, OR buy a passenger car that gets at least 22 MPG AND 10 better MPG (EPA combined). VERY few non-hybrid passenger cars will qualify for a full $4500, unless the traded vehicle gets about, oh, 13 MPG epa combined. The Impreza barely even QUALIFIES as a replacement vehicle, even for $3500, being rated at 22 combined for the 2.5L Manual model. In other trims/trans, it may not even qualify at all. Assuming that Caps' F150 is a 5.0L V8 automatic 2WD (which will be about in the middle of the economy range for that year/model), it gets 15. So a car would have to have 25 combined mpg to go full boat on the rebate, whereas an SUV or light truck would only have to get 20.
  14. Jeez... I hate to say this, but when they said that your interest rate would be 1% higher, I would have walked at that point. It is EXTREMELY unlikely that that's true, they're just trying to make extra money off selling you a higher rate financing package. There's a dealership in my town that is well known for antics like that. They advertise stupidly low prices, including rebates that most people don't qualify for, and then won't let the car go without insane interest rates, undercoating, plaid insurance, and any other cockamamie scheme they can come up with. I just hope you're not actually getting screwed in this deal, but this sounds REALLY fishy.
  15. Now you'll have to pardon me for this, as I don't know a lot about Fords... I've just been selling them for about 3 weeks now... That's about what, a '96 or '97 F150? (a stab in the dark)
  16. I'll have to agree with Jerry. I've never seen a separate torque spec from Subaru regarding those shadow mags. So they must be the same as regular wheels, just sleeved.
  17. They look 100 times better than when I handed them off to you.
  18. Pretty nice looking truck there. So, what are the details on the soob?
  19. As with anything, it's just a matter of getting enough people to express interest. It's not that noone does it because they hate Subarus, it's just that there may or may not be enough demand to justify the R&D. I'm putting in a request with ACC also. It certainly won't hurt to request it from more than one company.
  20. I'll have to put this thought on hold for now... I was just going to clean up the shadow mags I have, but it turns out that my brain is faulty and I got the time mixed up for a sale, and it was my own stupid fault. (so sale pending on the rims that I was going to clean up..)
  21. Xtreme - there is a place called www.stockinteriors.com that the AMC guys used to use for their carpeting on odd cars. They have molded, period-correct carpeting for everything from 50's and 60's on up to Imprezas. They don't have a listing for a BRAT, but mine will need new carpets (a previous owner cut a 3' wide hole in the carpet at the passenger footwell) so I sent them a request for carpeting for mine. If we can get enough people, maybe they'll simply develop a kit for the BRAT so we can order it and not worry. (Same may be true of other models as well)
  22. lol... details. I know of a place up in Marysvilled called Alternative Blasters, they do and and plastic type plastic. I was just hoping to find someone willing to do it on the cheap.
