<Casting numbers will be different because the heads are different. >
heads side to side or these two heads are different and should or shouldn't be the same?
If they're supposed to be different, which one goes where?
Bill
Heads can not be swapped from one side to the other.
Cam forward, exhaust ports down.

Would love to have custom bumpers and a swing gate but after looking at this post I see I have plenty of work in redoing my lift kit before I move on to any thing else.
I'm open to tips on how to redesign my lift as I don't have mtnman38's experience and knowledge.
Gathering parts to redo the steering set up right now as I'm not thrilled with that set up either.
Stumpy
do your lifts for EA81 still have the same design with round rear lift blocks and non guseted shock exstentionsmustach bar bolts need to be longer they have about a 1/4 inch of thread in the metal
There is a definate camber problem as well you need to adjust your angle cut on front strut mounts
if so I would spend some time on a redesign because round blocks shift and roll front to back and side to side
causing your mustach bar to bend and your drive axel in the rear to pop out making 4wd useless
also the blocks shift causeing the bolts to break and it destroys the mounting points on the car itself
also the round blocks are just small enough that they press them selves thru the sheet metal on the body making your car schrink each time you use it
I had to redesign the rear end and weld new 1/4 in steel plates for the new assemble to sit on and put new bolt mounts on the plates before welding them on to the body
So basiclly the old desigh has desroyed my brat if I did not have a shop or fab exsperiance this would have totaled my brat because the stock rear suspention assembly would no longer stay attached to the car
So fair warning
feel free to pm me with questions
also I sold three of these lifts to my friends from the first group buy
they have all failed from the same problems
This is not the first time I have discussed these problems with AA I spoke to ALBIE many times thier final answer on the problem was
"there is not enough money in the old suby stuff so we are not going to redesign"
Im not tring to start a fight here I just want everyone on the board to be aware I said nothing for so long cause AA stopped selling this stuff before it failed
I have only delt with ea81 and ea82 kits from AA
Ea82 kits have yet to devlope problems as far as I know ELTORO and ninja ben have used these lifts for a while
Thanks LT

I understand they (ea81) will work but you have to swap the drive gear off the ea82 disty.

Have never even heard of the egg trick.
Black pepper I've heard of for a temp fix using common kitchen goods.
Give it a try and let us know how it turns out!

Hey, if you can afford to transport, he's got more. Said he knew some dude who had 30+ Gen-1 Brats, sold em all at once.
Would like to talk to this guy about his Brats.
Do you have his contact info?
PM with it if you can.
Thanks, Stumpy

Seems to be quite a bit of difference for some reason, even though they look the same
The 4eat will not interchange between those years!
Body parts on the front of 90-91 are an inch shorter than the 92 and newer.
Different rad frame support.
AC condensor and some of the hoses are different
There may be more but this is what I'm aware of right off the top of me head.

I have a reciever on both the front and rear, the one in the front is STURDY.. it isnt part of the bumper its tied into the frame REALLY good. What size cable and how long? there is a sturdy tree about I dunno, 200yds away.
Think it's like 1/2" cable but it's defiantly not that long. Would have to have some additional cable/chains.
Don't have any think else of great length my self. Pulled the only 20' chain apart with the winch a couple years back. Have one heavy choker cable 15' or so. That would still leave us way short.

I have one of the 60" 5ton one's. Had to upgrade after I bent the 48" 3.5ton one. Dang China made stuff.
With out a good base it will push through. How far down is hard pan?
I have used 2x material before to get more surface area. Or plate steel but thats not much fun to pack around.
Still have a receiver winch set up but no rig to hook it to since I sold that Ford 4x4. Don't think my van would be of much help, couldn't get it close to the work area cause it's an oversized wimp!!

What area is the Nissan in?
Have a high lift! And I dig pretty good also.
Not much for tranversing the mud, as you can imagine! Dang crutches sink out of sight!
Will give a hand if I can.

How much gas in the tank?
Had a New Yorker once that drove home fine, parked in front of house and the next time I went to drive it, no go!!
Turned out to be fuel related. As in the gauge was slightly off and the pump appanently couldn't pick up any even though the LOW FUEL light had just came on. AAARRRRR!!!
Put a couple gallons of gas in there, cranked a few times then fired right up.
Apparnetly picked up some dirt as it's preformance went down hill over the next few days until it would only idle. But thats another story.

Have seen them at Thrifty Auto for a 1$
Plastic, but for the price and what it saves in labor, who cares if you have to replace often.

Thought you would have installed that weeks ago for your trips up the hill.
The screws in the bag are the one's that came off the origianl car.
Don't remember what they were though.

I'm all ears.
Need to do one of these my self as soon as I can get the parts!!
It'll be the first one for me.

Not sure about the vacuum thingy but it should be easy to distinguish between auto or manual tranny I would think. But then again that thinking think has gotten me in trouble before.
How about a pic of the trans input shaft set up and the vacuum thingy?
Could help identify it.

I also have a passenger light assembly (Complete) from a 91 Loyale that I'm presently parting out. It looks to be the same but I'm no expert.
If some one else can verifty for you that they are the same, that would make a complete bolt right in set up.

OK, got them out of the shed and they look great.
Only issue I can see is the passenger side one is missing the metal mounting/adjustment bucket.
No issues with the reflective material and the lens are quite clear.
Can get you some pic's it you like.

Checked out your web site, interesting stuff.
Looking at the stock bike setup as I have one but the LL setup looks like a fairly easy route. Will have to consider my options if I ever get that far.
Kennedy's adapter plates are spendy but good quality from what I understand.
Working on a low budget here!!
As others have stated, your motor is defiantly an ea82 series.
Slight HighJack here::GD or mikeshoup, can the feed back carb set up be ran without the ecm or is a must have item. Fellow member in the NE (Prince Edward Island) is doing one with this setup and I'm looking for info to help him out.
Thanks, Stumpy

Do either of these have rear disc brakes?
Rotors on my GL-10 are warped. Think it's the passenger side that did most of the salt collecting.
Is the front and rear rotors the same? If so I may be able to get by with just the front. In which case htijohnson I think it is has a set closser.
Thanks, Stumpy

I have a pair of those off an 86GL in my shed.
Don't remember right off what condition they are in. Couldn't have been to bad or they would have went out with the scrap metal run.
I have used both the bulbs out of them on my other cars.
If your interesed in them 211 I will check condition and get back to you.

What heads on an EA82 non-turbo?
in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

Nothing like posting with your head up your rear orfice!
I was looking at the head assembly not at the bigger picture of the cam assembly coming off before head can be removed.
Thanks to Gloyale's post it's nice to know I got the not interchangaable (At least with out mods) right. But that was luck and not of wisdom.
Sounds like you got a decent price. I paid more for a complete set from thepartsbin, much more.
I will remember this thread when I get around to tearing into the two motors I have with suspected HG issues. One ea82 and one ej22.

OT: Off to the Blue Mt. for a while. Will check back in some time in August to see the latest.
