Hello all Now that I have this thing on the road I am working out the bugs and I am a little confused. I know the d/r 4 speeds have issues with the crunch between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd but this one is odd. it is very intermittant is shifts fine for a day or so then suddenly it goes back to crunching and sometimes grinding. feels like the clutch is not dis engaging but I know it is. It also has the typical super sloppy shift linkage like lost of us do. if the syncros are bad shouldnt it crunch all the time not sometimes or does anyone think it has anything to do with the sloppy shifter. any help would be appreciated Wish I had swapped the tranny while I had the engine out but didne have time. only drove this car 2 or 3 miles before I tore it apart to replace a bad clutch only to find the clutch was installed wrong. bummer:banghead:

still fighting with my 85 brat
Dr Subenstien replied to subyrally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had a similar prob years ago and traced it to a hole in the exhaust. it was behind the heat shield and pumped straight through the warm air intake and back throught the carb. caused all kinds of running issues. -
BRAT registration, car or truck?
Dr Subenstien replied to MilesFox's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Missouri made me register it as a truck. they then gave the option of 6,000 or 12,000 lb plates i asked for 3,000 lb plates and they laughed at me... oh well i guess leagally i can have a 4,000 lb payload HA! -

I have searched the site high and low and have not been able to come up with an answer. I have this weber on my brat "32/36" and am confused on the adjustments. which screw in the front is the idle mixture screw? I have a thumb screw with a spring wraped arount the threads pointing diagonally at the passenger headlight and a small diameter brass screw pointing straight out the front. I tried to turn the brass one but did not want to force it. and the spring wrapped one did not seem to do much. or am I in the wrong place completely? Also is there any adjustments I need to do on the secondaries? I had hitachies before and understood them well, Webers are very foregin to me. sorry if this has been asked before I just could not find it. BTW I have no Idea what jets are in the carb. The vehicle came from 86Subaru so if anyone on here supplied him with the setup any info would be much appreciated. Thanks to all!

well 1 year 3 months after I bought my newest brat from one of you guys I finally had the time to fix it and just got it licenced today. Been over 8 years since I wrecked my last one (god rest her soul) but thanks to her selfless donations I have a runner! and also a thanks to the board I have been trolling on here for a loooong time gathering info and it came in real handy! Diesel prices gave me the encouragement to finally tackle getting her running trying to save some fuel money. The brat may not be as comfortable as my truck but it is more fun!! thanks for a great site!
