Here's my view of it. Pine Barrens is a great exercise for your beatable Subaru.We go slower with more people,but will run scary fast with a small dedicated group.It's sandy trails for the most part with a little water if you want it.No abuse is mandatory.It's as you like it. We've had folks run a NEW Outback,Baja,etc. but that's your choice.And really,there's not much to worry about if you can keep yourself under control.It's a great location for our NJ and eastern PA friend to meet up with the rest of the NYC/NE region.There's lots of great folks in NJ and PA!! Carlisle is kind of cool for people to show off something even if it's just a beater that you're proud of.There's no off roading,and more folks from VA,MD,the Tidewater area in general.It's a large grassy field with some asphalt...they do a small autocross...you can get in on Subarubrat's food/beer deal if you so desire...check the Carlisle post as it develops and check out CarsatCarlisle.com for the "Import/Kit-Replicar" show third weekend in May,every year. Now as for this region,well in the past I've been host to several meets at my old workshop.Those days are over,sorry to say.But I think if we choose a good State Park or whatever works somewhere around the MA/CT line not far from I-91 it'd be the most central location to those of us from Maine through eastern NY.It could also be a short ride for folks from Bong Island,and northern Jersey. If you guys are interested in a good yard run day we try to hit some PA yards but it's an early and long day for me driving from Bridgeport so it'd be even longer for you guys.We usually hit Harry's at least,but also hit yards in Alentown,and west of there before going up towards Harry's in Hazelton,then home using I-84,usually.Check for yard run posts as they happen.I usually start a post a couple months in advance. Shall we start a kick around-location inquiry post for New England?? WagonsOnly's backyard might be the best place. It's already a Subaru museum!

Source for heater resistor packs
I've used aluminum foil in a pinch.Just make sure the large one (#4) is the one you use the foil on and have your fan switch on #4 all the time. Yes,it's redneck,but it'll keep your toes warm and windshield clear on the way to the yard to get the real thing.

Carlisle is an East Coast Meet for sure.But the guys from Maine and up north will have a real hard time swinging it without paying hotel,etc. costs. So,we need one here,somewhere.

I had two '75 wagons side by side,one 2wd and one 4wd and Russ is correct.They're different animals after the firewall...and even the radiator support as well. But, when it's lifted I don't think it'll matter....but please don't lift it if it's got potential for restoration.:cool:

Same for all of New England.I went through the members list,or at least up the letter "N" looking for old members that I've met and noticed tons of New Englanders who have anywhere from 0 to 3 posts.Many folks must come by,search archives for their needs,and by the time they'd normally stop by again they've bought their next car.My guess,since we turn over vehicles so quickly up here. We'll be trying to get a New England meet together later this year.

Do any of you recognize this tool?
Head alignment tool for holding the head inplace while you get the bolts started,etc. If it were like $5 I'd get it. It's a nice item to copy as well. I completely understand....but please,don't toss out even the simplest looking seal installer,etc....please.When the time comes I'll be sure to scan/copy any pages you need from all my old manuals to determine each tool as best as possible.

Newbie just bought 75 subaru on ebay
When he's my sidekick on adventures he's known from town to town as "Howmuchyouwantforthatwagon?":) He'll be getting it,don't worry.Then off to therapy. There's a '71 ff1 wagon here that belongs to my friend,a non boardmember.We've got to get the two together.The melding of Subarus earliest markets,New England and the PNW.Right on.

Getting up in the morning is a risk too but we all get up and face what lies ahead. Like you said,plus he talked to Patrick,the current owner.So from that I think he paid at least fair,if not just a little overpaid for it.But I don't think there's anything that can't be handled.The main thing is that the body will roll on,even if it needs some patchwork,etc. I don't think anyone will be disappointed in the end. Now,the thing to do would be to have it dropped off where labor is cheap and quality acceptable.When it come here and it's time to pay some shop for the work......ouch!There's some of the best restoration shops in the world right here but I don't think Andrew wants to dump $30,000 into it. Rotisserie!!! I might be owning one later this year.It'll be partly owned and the other guy will be using it first if things go as planned.They aren't that much,really.But when I put it to the northeast group to go in on one I got no response. Hopefully we'll all put our differences aside and help each other by sharing such an investment.By that I mean sharing transport cost to save money....splitting a rotisserie....and whatever else we can combine efforts on.That might even include shopping out the bodywork to one shop that would give us a better deal as a threesome,or more,instead of being soaked one at a time. I'm begining to think we need a winter meeting to discuss all this.Everyone sit down and discuss their outlook on expected projects.If we all get a good idea of what each one wants then we'll not step on each other's toes and the effort should be minimized from an individual's personal budget/time allowance.We can also try to talk to shops and see if we can get a deal from a good quality shop.

Firstly,who was it that won the border kit off of eBay awhile back?the guy wouldn't loan it to me even though I offered a set in mahogany if he'd let me copy it.....not cool.If anyone has a set PLEASE loan it to me and I'll send it right back. Secondly,I'd like to dress up an EA82 wagon.(above mentioned set is for pre '80 wagons).I'm not familiar with any woody package for the EA82 so it'll be hand drawn templates to get it going. #3-Are there EA81 wagon's with the woody package still around?Anyone have that set to lend? #4-Your ideas?????- Newbie just bought 75 subaru on ebay
Of course,don't be silly.... Gotta keep in mind though,Brian and I had talked about his wagon,then wagons,coming my way years ago.....Andrew won his '73 outright...and the ff1 was kind of weird because Patrick actually contacted me first,saved the email just incase,but our hero Andrew has the dough and we talked things out.We're both happy,he moreso than I...but I wish him the best with it.To me,an ff1 is interesting but '72 and later is more for me.We had like one ff1 in our backyard when I was young but we had dozens of '72 and later Subies. Well,I think we're chock full 'o vintage Subarus right now so you watch and see,the best one will show up now and you'll be all set. For an EA82 Turbo wagon..... We'd like to try our hand at making one...NOT TO SELL....for personal use only. Not saying we wouldn't think about trying to upgrade a design if possible,but we would never produce what someone else is already. So,gimme something to look over,please. Has anyone used tube stock vertically between plates?Or are they mostly all box type flatstock?I've got an idea I'd like to try using the tube stock and some crossbracing for both excellent vertical strength and hopefully less flex than flatstock boxes horizontally.- Subaru ff-1 In Oregon
Andrew will be taking care of the tailgate wagons for me.We'll see where it all falls when the fan hits the ground...or something like that. I think we need a group pow wow....we all sit down and before getting drunk,try to settle out our vintage vehicles. Problem is we all want too many. This is getting a little too thick on my end.Thankfully Andrew's dad is totally cool about storing the Tailgates for me.Otherwise I'd have to pass or take out a loan for parking. When I get settled into our next home I'll know better what I can keep and what has to go.Hoping to keep all the '73's and the '78 and get rid of the 80's cars except for one. Yup,was feeling the same way about it.My '78 still has a foil tape patch over the spot I wanted to cover to go to Carlisle....nearly two years ago!! Now that the big boss is gone for vacation I'm going to try to get Lucky inside as much as possible during lunch and as I can after working hours and get some of that work done.It might be just patchwork but it'll be done well.I really don't do much hack work.Check out my latest project at work: That's Jesus in the background....you know,a Honduran guy ...Hayzoose. Concave,mitered angles are my favorite......yeah right!But I promise,the wood will look perfect when I'm done with it.I'll do my best on the car too.Need to get some practice first.I want to do as much as I can myself,but i've got a good guy welding for me right now just incase I can't get as much free time as he can. BTW,we'll be making roll bars,bumpers,and probably some form of lift kit at least for personal use. Double tube bumper for Bucky would get those Mercedes moving over for you.- Subaru ff-1 In Oregon

Nah,but it can smell really great when it's all sealed up underside.Right now on a rainy day it'll get some dampness in the rear carpets because of a couple of really small holes just in from the rockers.I spary some Febreeze and it dries the moisture/moldy smell right out.Once it's dry it has no odor at all,really. This is the second car I've run with such low mileage.The first one was a '76 DL that now resides in Sweeden with around 35k - Subaru ff-1 In Oregon
