Wow,yours must be one of a handfull in Alabama.Do you see any others still around? Welcome!

Jesse showed us that an 18v cordless impact gun does it with no stopper. But since it's in the car just drop a punch into one of the holes on the flywheel.Helps to have one that's a little bent. When I pull an engine I drill a hole through the bell housing so my punch can drop straight down into the hole.Ooooo, dats nice n solid.Don't need no stinking stopper then. Besides,Gary is right.Seems nobody wants to let those go.Old mechanics are buried with them, according to legend.

Looks great!

moosens replied to Seahag1978's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Cell phone will be on.I'll be in Stamford all day, then maybe going to Brad's over the Tappan Zee Br. if you go 287. Hope you don't even need me.Good luck and watch out,I'll be out there driving. So,what's going on here?Delivery of Brat to Lebanon?? I like Lebby, nice little blue collar town.Good diner there! -
Check the 360 club? I'm sure one guy here will chime in soon.

Nah,there really isn't too much around. The guy in E.Hampton has a few vintage Subarus. What I need to have happen is to get into our next home, which will be a house with a garage. Then I can settle up with the loose end vehicles I've had my sights on for the last few years.Basically that'd be the E.Hampton guy, some rotting 74's in an old guy's yard,a '78 or 79 wagon not far from here, and there's a couple long distance ones too.Of the close ones, only the '75 coupe is currently roadworthy and not rotted. But I last saw it at least 2 years ago,so maybe that one isn't so hot anymore either. We'll get you hooked up.Really, the best thing to do is find a dry zone car with a 98-100% solid body and pay the man for transport.I hate to brag but I'm probably the only person with a true CT vintage Subaru.Mine was rustproofed properly when new apparently. There are some original 360's in CT but heck, those things sit in hallways and closets most of their life. Whatever you do,just keep anything vintage Subaru away from WagonsOnly!! Actually, although admittedly warped,we're a good little bunch of vintage Subathusiasts. And the numbers have shot up over the last two years for interest in vintage Subarus in the northeast. At one time only about 3+ years ago there was only Scotty and myself with our '78 4WD wagons.Quick northeast vintage headcount while inhibiting sleep deprivation: Me-2 cars Scott K-2 cars Andrew-2 cars not counting 360's Jesse-2 but selling one Mary-1 Jon-rotating inventory My freind in E.hampton-at least 3 cars, two are parts only so he says. Not much else that I've heard of.

I thought we were going to copy these?Galen, didn't you say you had a friend.....etc.?? I'd love to have the '80-84 air dam back for my coupe.
-
Not only have I not forgotten that........I haven't gotten it yet!! Andrew, the guy with the $40,000 worth of vintage wagons still hasn't put that and some other items in my hands......but that's another story. We'll get together soon and I'll be sure to rob somebody for the $20 between now and then.

Are EA71 and EA81 rear brake adjusters the same?
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So far,so good.......no gall stones. As for the brake adjuster,I took it in the house and with my Gigantor channel locks held it over the stove and loosened it up. Auto Zone was absolutely no help either.I stopped by tonight for some PB Blaster and just to see if they had any adjuster at all. They didn't even show an adjuster and the guy checked all over the computer.Amazing! -

You cover my end and I'll even let you drive it on "my" days. Somebody has to unearth an ff-1 here in the states that can actually be driven. We do need to meet at my friend's place and drool over his '71.I still haven't made the call to see if we can meet up there.Might have to make it next year. -
FF1's in australia for sale
moosens replied to maudsland's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Lots of interest......no money to cover the shipping. -
That price is amazing. Is it showing up at your door or do you have to pick it up? I agree, that's the real way to go.Start with the most solid body/structure you can get.
-
Ray,Despite what my email said, that '75 is probably still available. It's sort of on hold for me,but let me talk to him about it. I saw it geez, must be two years ago at least, and it was fairly solid, but had surface rust underside. Not really a typical CT waste, but it'll need a rotiserie job because you'll want to freshen up the underside.Solid enough rockers to work from and the unibody front horns were solid at the low curve. It was in a garage then, but I don't think it was kept indoors all of the time since,so who knows what the condensation did or didn't do. I think we all need to meet at this guys place.Best solution.I'll make the arrangements, you guys hang tight. He has an ff-1 wagon that runs and drives, the '75 coupe,a couple, etc. '78-9 wagons and sedans, and lots of EA81 vehicles, and right up to the Legacy.

What kind of fluids....
moosens replied to REXSPEEDWORTHY's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
No owner's manual to refer to? Tranny-Dexron-the red stuff. Front dif.-I've used Castrol,Quaker State,etc.....depends on your temperature. For you,I guess 85W,check around at the auto parts store,etc... Brakes-same deal,I've used the better of the common brands.Never use Walmart B/S,NEVER!!! I'd say you don't need any "special" fluids. -
Those look fabulous. How much was shipping? Maybe I can get Santa to cover one for me.

FAR ABOVE, LEFT: The Subaru's "engine room" now accommodates the main drive motor, several batteries, and various system controls. ABOVE, LEFT: The engine and generator fit comfortably in the trunk. PA yard run,a MUST before the snow MEET UP??

Thanks for the report. -
Wow,this past weekend would have been perfect, but oh well.Subaru and us folks were made for lousy weather anyways. Gas I can charge, and I can lunchbox the day through,so I'm able to swing the ride any Saturday except this one.A Sunday might work too,but Saturday is probably best for everyone. Kick it around.
