  1. Well, they are both genuine Subaru alloy wheels. The newer ones are the 02 WRX wheels and are brand new. I got them for $50 @ a yard sale! They came off the car and went to the garage with only 400 miles on them, when the owner bought custom wheels. The kid then totaled the car in 6 months, so there was no use for the wheels again. They just sat in the garage under a sheet. Yep, a good deal for me! I have these WRX wheel and tires on another car, but never thought about the mileage issue till I thought about putting them on my FWD Impreza. I'm driving it the most now as it's getting 27 around town and I just got 39 on the highway last week. (I maintain my cars perfectly, run mobile 1, etc.) It's amazing the difference in gas mileage between my (2) 95 Imprezas L's. One is 2.2/auto/AWD/sedan and the other is 1.8/5speed/FWD/coupe. I hope Subaru goes back to 2WD cars on some of it's line! Todd
  2. Boy, you need a college course in "wheels 101" to figure this out! :-\ I guess it may be a wash since the 16" is heavier, but the height is larger. Thanks, Todd
  3. Your thoughts?? 1.8 Impreza FWD 5 Speed. If the wheels go from 15" (195- 60/15) to 16" (205-55/16) do you think the gas mileage will improve or deteriorate? Both sizes are alloy wheels. I'm getting mixed information. Todd
  4. Shoot me via PM his email address. I lost it. Thanks, Todd
  5. YEP, you can't sell this one!! Have you ever heard from the guy up here that bought your wagon? Todd
  6. So essentially it's just the airbag plug? I just have a newer wheel sitting around and I like it better. Todd
  7. Will these interchange? Both 1995 Imprezas. The one with the horn buttons is an early 1995 and the one without is a later 1995. (Same wheel used through like 2000 I think). Can I change out the one with the buttons for the one without?? Thanks, Todd
  8. Yea, I think this is as popular as the windshield gaskets. We need to all pool our sources, call around, investigate and get this off the ground. I'm working on it now. I think we need a radiator that shop could fab these up. I think we could do 25. Todd
  9. I'm mainly interested in stage 2, so that is what the measurements are. I think we need to get a hold of a stage 1 core and compare to stage 2. Sometimes the part #s are irrelavant. We need to eyeball this. If we all needed the same core, that would be great. I know I am looking at modifying my heaterboxes to fit new cores. That is the point that I am to. I need cars that don't leak steam on the windows. Repairs don't seem to last in these 30 year old cores. Too much work to have a leak every year! I know the cores from all stage 2's and Gen 1 BRATS will interchange. The part # difference is just the inlet/outlet size pipe. You can adapt that easily. Todd
  10. Stage 1 are Subarus prior to the update in late 1977. Stage 2 is the update from late 1977-1979, including 80 and 81 BRATs. My post above is Gen 1/Stage 2 Subaru heater core size. Gen 1 Brats are stage 2 vehicles too. (Not to worry Crabman) 1980 and 1981 BRATs are the same as the 77-79 Cars. This post is in the historic forum and is for 70s Subarus and up to 81 BRATs. This is about heater cores for those vehicles. (You can still buy cores easily for 80s vehicles 82 + BRATs) Todd
  11. The size I got for the the stage 2 is: 7 13/16" L 200mm 6 15/16 W 178mm 2 5/8" H 65mm I'm going to look through catalogs for a similar size/style. Come on guys....looking for options. Idea?? There is no core yet to be ordered. Todd
  12. I say keep the AT. (Put in a cooler though for long life). Once you start modifying, you lose the appeal to many buyers..... if you ever choose to sell. Minor and removable things, like wheels, are no big deal. Do what you like on that front. You switch wheels out easily. (No Pugs though) If you switch to manual, do it as nice and clean as possible. As least invasive as you can. If you do it professionally and it shows that way, you will retain much of the classic car charm. There...my 2 cents. Oh...the older you get, the more you appreciate automatic! (And you are getting older now)! Todd
  13. I have a few loose, so I have the measurements for Stage 2. I know early stage 2 cars had smaller inlet and outlet pipe sizes, but the core dimensions are the same. The hose size can be worhed around with an adaptor. Yes the heater valve is another problem! I think a radiator shop might be able to make these to our sizes. I will have to inquire locally and search the web. If you guys could look in your area for radiator/heater core shops that would be cool too to compare to. Looks like the #s are Todd (3) Paul (4) Crabman (2) Subiguy (1)? Kiwi Subbie (1) ? _____________ 11 Well 11 already and we have hardly begun! Todd
  14. Now that I got your attention! OK.....it appears that we are reaching the end of the usable life for the Gen 1 heater cores. You can repair them yes, but then they fail again in short order. (Too many failing on me). I'm not taking the dash out every year. What are the alternatives? There are tons of heater cores on the market, although none that are the exact size/style I need! I looked at the heater core book at the radiator store. I guess matching up the size and making it fit is the next best thing. Has anyone done this? What number, style , type core did you use? I'm thinking about having a "special order"/group purchase done. We are all going to need these! Any interest? Ideas? Manufacturing company? Todd
  15. Well, I might have to just go look at this engine. 56K 2000 2.2 $600 Todd
  16. Is the 1999 EJ22 and the 2000 EJ22 the same engine? (Or essentially the same)? Found a low mileage 2000 and thinking of picking it up. Thankssssssssssss Todd
  17. Well, not having a 99 or 2000 EJ22 to look at, can anyone indeed verify that the 1999 EJ25 SOHC manifold, will bolt onto a 99 or 2000 EJ22? Although with the new 99 plus EJ22, you are still getting an interference engine, piston slapping, irritating engine! Oh, I'm assuming the 1999 and 2000 EJ22 are the same?? Anyone know that? Todd (subaru3)
  18. I guess I'm remembering the EA71s. You could change the bellhousings to the old style, coverting the newer/fatcase EA71s. Oh I long for the simplicity of those years!!! I believe there will be more investigations and hopefully solutions, to putting the 1995 2.2 into 1999 and up vehicles. It's just a rock solid engine with no worries! Todd
