HATCHY replied to tucka786's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Pull apart. Sounds like a disty. Fuseable links are all good no burnt ones. I believe of the fuseable link is bad. Of will not allow the engine to fire. So it wont cause damage to the engine and electrical -

I don't have a welder it sucks. Guess its tap and remove or sometging. Ill figure it out. I wish it was a better design. I'm going to helicoil all these very soon. No more issues -

Even if your timing is not exact the car will still start. And sounds to me like you can't be more then a degree. Off or so. You should ha e no issues getting to fire. I had the same issue You had and it turned out to be my distributor. . One other possible thing is fuseable link. And or check your grounds -

For sure. I would never think a 4 runner suspension would be anywhere remotely close to a soob. That's pretty cool And good too know. Makes for a ton of new possibilities for me -

Engine Bucking!! Motor Mounts?? Clutch?
HATCHY replied to keish's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have kind of the same issue. My ride jerks, and pulls, when Im under load in low rpms. If I step on it it will straighten right up. letting off the gas will cause it to jerk. It sucks, I probably just need a tune up, or carb adjust -
I was just thinking of maybe running up mt loop hwy in the soob this weekend after the snow. maybe go get sideways somewhere, maybe go up mt pilchuck, I havnt been out messing around in the snow enough this past couple years, anyone from everett or surronding areas want to go.?

its down at the bottom. i scraped some of it away. I just dont remeber having grime in there before -
upon closer inspection of this clutch issue I discovered a good bit of oil inside the housing, could a leaky oil pan cause this , in which the clutch would become soaked and then slip.. the rear seal looks fine

oh and General , what do you mean put it in and out of 4wd and that will tell me?? Is this with the engine in or out.?? My engine is sitting out on the stand. id really hate to swap it all back in and find out that the tranny is bad, If it is,, im going 5 speed d/r for sure, does the 5sp dual range run a 7 7/8 or 8 7/8 clutch set, because i have the 8/78 right now brand new

right on mc brat, I like the msd box, and everything it does,.
-
Oh you have a fuel injected. The box will still work on a carbed engine right. I have a ea81. And about the distrubutor popping I'm not sure why. But the accell coil didn't do it only the blaster two. Strange. Could be I just had bad distys e

4 speed m/t dual range. gl. transmission looks like its been taken apart and serviced. I think this because it had new seals in the back and front and around the axle shafts and fresh gear oil, Its really strange.. 4WD works great. no issues at all
