so im getting an XT turbo this week, the thing is, i want to keep this car and restore it, it´s recently been converted to 5sp with hi/lo and put in it another less mileage engine. the thing is... after all the horror stories i´ve heard about the EA82T can someone please tell me if this engine is going to last if i treat it right and service it ? i´ve already decided that if it blows i am going to be swapping to EJ but still thats something i don't want to do. it has a digital dash, is that somthing that can be used with an EJ series engine ?

5th got me from 189km/h to the top speed

had my 1985 GL sedan up to 197km/h last month on the flat and no wind only mods where open exhaust (really open) and timing retarded a few degrees and that number was according to my GPS not the speedo

not the lights in question are they sealed beams or can you change the bulbs in them ?

bad lighting on this one is something i don´t care about on this car as it will most likely only be driven in the summer (in the summer over here the sun never sets) i just like how they look.... alot... the wiring part is no promblem

this is true, but if in 4wd mode when engine stalls you have to disengage it manually from under the car, had to do that with my 1985 5 speed when timing belt broke in order to use a dolly to tow it

Now, at the moment my car looks like this = this is basicly how ALL the EA82´s look in iceland, now, i have seen a few Gen3 on the internet with split headlights (separate housing for high and low beam) as far as i can tell this is a strictly USDM thing so what i´m asking does anyone have any good pictures of these headlights and/or any idea how i could get a set ? thanks Óskar K.

with the amount of salt they use here, it´s the same here, i was VERY lucky to find a EA82 in this condition... always wanted a EA81 but there are only 3-4 in the whole country that are worth saving

if it´s fixable i don´t care.. i´m going to school next january to learn mechanic and i´ve also been working at a ford/volvo/mazda/citroen dealership for a year now.

actualy i´m having trouble with the later one, radiator is leaking bad and also as i found out, brake fluid is nice to have in the brake system

268.000km and still running strong, the motor is 5x better than in my 1985 GL and i have never driven a EA-series car with a gearbox as good as this.. body is straight and rustfree, the hatch and left front quarter have been sprayed and don´t quite match up, but that will be fixed for now it is only being used for playing around on frozen lakes around here because the brakes leak and i don´t feel safe driving in traffic. sorry about any spelling errors, i do hail from iceland
