Good luck with the project some ways your coupe looks better than mine but other ways mine is better too. same colour and same cool fake wood grain dash I got some vids of my gsr on youtube

My old 1987 omega wagon had HYDRAULIC LIFTER EA71 it went good. never had the head off so cant tell you if they are bigger or not? Ive only seen one ea71 that thrown a rod. it had the oil drained from it, coolent drained. reved to the maxium.... and that still ran for about 15mins lol

lol. Im trying to get some diff bushings made for my svx. Im Thinking I will have to replace some suspention parts in my 1400 DL and GSR. being most of it is still original.

maybe you mite have to get some new stuff made up?

Ive thought off doing some thing on a 1400 coupe for exhaust same as number 1. After I restore my GSR, I will try look around for another GSR and try do the GSR heads on the 1600 motor and maybe turbo or supercharger. or fit a 1800 RX motor in if I could find one. is all the ea81s the same block? or or is it like the early EA71 and later EA71 fat block

Um depending on the 1400 engine it would produce alot more than 60? My GSR supost to be in factory bhp is 90 something bhp. and my DL 1400 engine produces about 80 something. Read both of those in subaru Factory stats somewhere. Couldnt you maybe grind ea81 of the engine and stamp ea71 or something of that nature on it lol? is that 60bhp at the wheels or flywheel?

Would that mean you would raise the engine hight up?

Remember the GSR had brake booster from 72 i think? yes there is a difference between 73 and 74 for the grills. I even think the subaru symbol became smaller. and it has that space that can fit the fog light? The indicators between 73 and 74 are different. 73 is fully orange, the 74 has the orange and white indicators. In 72 and early 73 you got the fake wood grain, the nice round gauages, heater switch is in different place. I think the center console is different from 73 to 74?

I must amit I do not like the Gen 1 stage 2s. The stage ones look soo much more classery especially the 72/early 73s with the synthic wood grain lol

Is a EJ18 wider than a EJ15? I know that if you where to fit in a Ea81 in to a 1400 gen 1 stage 1 coupe that you only have aprox 11mm or less on each side of th heads / rocker covers before you hit in to the side rails. I think a Ej15 will fit??? What I thought but every time i asked this... No one could give me a answer on.... I always thought the 1400 coupes body was smaller than the 1600 shaped ute/wagon etc. Theres a 1600 in my GL 1400 coupe. going off memory theres about 15 or so mms each side

Is the stage 2 slighty bigger body? They do look a bit bigger. dad even called the 1600 shaped one (1977ish) the ugly bigger sister lol:lol:

That reminds me I need to move my GSR from where it is. its heading to winter and ive got it parked on the grass because im lacking space. what makes it worse is the drain is blocked at the lawn is one giant puddle:-\

Thanks for that. I stuck a wee screw driver between those fuse holder thingy and pushed them closer togeather and now it works with with the motor off.

Actually ive got another random thing my brumby does. I do not know if it has any tie ins with same problem ive talked about above. If I leave my car on acc but not have the motor running the indircater stays on and wont flash. But if the motor runs the indircater flashes

I havnt had a chance to check that. It used to be intermintant fault. The brake lights worked but sometimes it would stop working but when it did that the dash light would light up. Then I could go over a bump and it would work again and the dash light would go out

My panel guy costs 40 dollars a hour and materials on top of that. I got him to repair and straighen a english prewar chassie. it cost me $550. Probley on My 73 GSR coupe it will cost me 2k in panel beating and rust repairs. Its all time comsuming so sucks up the cash :-\ Your coupe looks great Im still looking to pic up a RX sometime if I can find one. I will settle for a GLF if I cant find one lol
