Ive squeezed almost 17 gallons in my GL wagon, and before I lifted it I could go about 60 miles on the empty light

I could try my best, I've never worked on an XT before

I will check out the tail lights to make sure they are ok, I can get those for sure, I dont know about the black parts though, those seem to be sort of uncommon

I went to a local junkyard down here in the lower valley, found an XT Turbo 4wd, an XT 4wd, 2 brat shells, 2 3 doors, a sedan, and a wagon. The red XT was like new, even has the 1988 Owners manual in Perfect shape, but the front end was hit, had the original spare tire with coverbag, PERFECT interior, everything on that car was like new, I stole the key and locked the car so it stays that way. I have dibs on the Brats and the sedan has the plastic piece on the back that says Turbo, but it was carbed engine Pics: If You see anything you want/need, let me know, I might be able to get a good deal from these guys if I purchase in bulk. We bought ours at a small but very reliable and well trusted parts store called Mr. T's Mid Valley Auto, we get some sweet deals there, and everything is next day if its not in stock I think we paid 89$ per strut, but Im not sure, this was last year

if you ever seen "My name is Earl" there is a Brat that one of the characters drives, its painted American flag nonetheless

they are Monroe struts, we had to re use the stock springs on the new struts

Pretty good, you should do a Featured car segment, or a featured project segment, or both, where you like show off other peoples cars and such. Had some good stuff, some funny parts (Tribeca lol) pretty well done I think. -Bill

I got a practical one, put a prop on it and mount it and use it as a fan in summer, make a giant swamp cooler for yer yard! It sounds dumb, but how cool would an air conditioned yard be?

From what I have read, what is being said is the "bad shaft" was not affecting the idle speed or quality, just making the car vibrate, and as the case, GD has a valid point. It stands to reason that if the shaft were too long and/ or binding/locking up in some way, then vibrations from the engine/transaxle assembly could be transmitted through the solid connection to the suspension created by the faulty axle, whether in motion or not, the engine still makes vibration as long as it is running. Basically it would have been bypassing the vibration insulating properties of the engine/tranny mounts. It is indeed possible, and I for one think it is time to let this one go and agree to disagree, if we cant agree that the axle *could* have been the problem.

yeah, there are other caps that fit, I found that a certain Toyota cap and rotor fit perfectly and work identically, as thats what my car had on it when I got it

you can get them though, we got new ones for our 86, they will fit loyales, same thing

almost sounds like its getting too much fuel, try some stock injectors if you can get some and see what happens. I have no xt experience, nor fuel injection for that matter, but thats a problem I have had on carbed rigs before, and it was just too much fuel

well I meant with the suspension, he used coils like I wanna do, Im building a Brat with a full custom frame, toyota axles, Ford drivetrain, and triangulated 4 link suspension and I"m gonna graft the fun tops from a Gen 2 onto the gen 1 roof

hey, how come every time I think up a cool project, someone else has already done it??? Oh well, at least Im using a gen 1 body on mine

if they are adjustable there should be 2 bolt looking adjusters below the lower spring perch on the strut. -Bill

Crazy glue *should* do it, if you let it sit long enough it will dry, cuz that stuffs crazy like that

definitely got the wires in the wrong place, in the manual, there are 2 pics, one for the ohc(EA82, what you have) and ohv(EA81). The cylinders are the same order, but the wires go to different places due to the disty being in the back on the driver side on your motor. I would check and make sure you looked at the right pic

Its pretty easy, I used the EA82 flywheel and clutch, becuase the EA81 flywheel I had was too thick and I couldnt adjust my clutch, but essentially it is the same thing as puting a 5spd d/r in an EA81 rig, as far as mating to the engine. In most cases, the intake from the EA82 will bolt directly on to the EA81, but I had to make spacers for mine. If the car has Power steering, your best bet would be to somehow get a hold of an EA81 Turbo power steering pump and bracket, otherwise you will have to make one. The motor mounts are the same, I had to remove a cast iron spacer that was part of the emission equipmet to use my EA82 pipes, but I stripped everything I didnt need to make the car run off the motor and out of the engine bay. You will need a custom hose for the lower radiator hose, and a second electric fan would be smart too. Then just bolt it in and off you go I wouldnt call it peppy either, but its pretty much the same power as the EA82 but in a more compact package.

I can attest to that! It rattles your brain, kinda like driving a NASCAR, but with out the power and speed
