Due to the recent off-roading my wagon has experienced, I have noticed a slight problem. It seems that my stock EA-81 doesnt take to deep mudholes very well . I was wondering about making a Snorkel for the stock hitachi and also what you guys have done for your soobs. Did a search already and didnt find the answers i was looking for. Have any of you used a kit designed for a jeep (fender mount type safari snorkels) and made it fit. On my 83 GL, im concerned if I mounted anything to the snout of the filter housing, the battery would have to go somewhere. But where?.
Also, if I were to remove the stock filter housing, would you guys suggest removing all the vacuum lines and just running a "connector" (been up too long) from the carb inlet to say a K&N?
I Have a Filter to Inlet "connector" from an SPFI wagon and I think it could be adapted to work with the Hitachi. Any Input from the pros? Pictures would be good as well.

PS.... I will be looking to "utilitarializing" the interior in the near future. ( muddy carpet )
