  1. Set the parking brake, Rev to a decently high RPM, drop the clutch, and flip the fan switch.. Boy is it fun with an LSD, Two-Tire Fire anyone? Smoke-O-Rama
  2. I know it may be Pennzoil, but its synthetic and its free, change it every 3k, got me home with no coolant, and no damage to the bearings. Did cause a few leaks, mostly due to the fact that my valve cover gaskets were gunked up with old dino oil. Fixed those and no leaks until it Blew a HG, BAD when boost spiked. Now water pours out the tailpipe. Yay.
  3. While drving my EA81 wagon yesterday, a heater hose split, didnt realize it till the it started spewing water over a sparkplug boot, and causing a misfire. Made it to school 10-14 miles away, and bypassed the heater core. Used the extra hose to make up for the split one at lunch, and it sounds like its going to live just fine. Wasnt even bubbling in the radiator.
  4. just FYI, my 86 Turbo Coupe, with non difflock hi/lo/fwd has an LSD, and that whole assembly is going into the back of my FWD XT. Absent the D/R shifter of course .
  5. Id go with 4 wheel parts. they have some locations in the puget sound, as well as an online shop. www.4wheelparts.com Resonable prices as well. Got my Boggers from them.
  6. All my pics are in my webshots folder. Click my sig pic to see em'
  7. thanks for putting on an unforgettable experience for everyone that attended. I had so much fun meeting everybody and putting names with faces. I know you guys payed out of the pocket for this and hope you made it all back, and then some for your efforts. This is a worthwhile event, and SOA joining in the funding makes you know all the hard work and effort you guys put in will continue. Thanks a lot for all that you guys (and the people behind the scenes) that made this an experience that I will never forget (till next year ) Jay
  8. Noah, You looked like a pro with that D70, burn me up a cd. Address was pm'd. Ill paypal my money to ya, on Friday (payday). Great to meet everyone there, It made it THE highlight of of my summer.
  9. Learn something new everyday. Never heard of using vasoline as a sealer, but now that i think about it, isnt vasoline waterproof/resisitant? That will take care of the cap, vasoline on the wires as well?
  10. I plan on leaving with the early group, Ill send out some pm's later. i need to get some sleep. I dont need sleep
  11. NOOOOO! that was my idea! except for the fact it would be a boxed Subie frame, and I wouldnt be using a nissan tx and subie engine and tranny due to financial reasons. Mine will be a little bigger hopefully (35's+) though . What are you going to do for steering? Thats what has my project held up right now....
  12. I had the same problem, only with both calipers. When i finally came to a stop smoke poured out of both wheelwells and the brakes wouldnt budge. Unhooked the Parking brake cables from the calipers and became a member of the 1st gear club, and still am.
  13. Still want that VAC diagram, Meat? Edit: dont know if it will help.. let me know..
  14. TSJ (TheSubaruJunkie) is the one that did the mechanical secondary linkage, to make both barrels open up at about the same time for more power. Its in the USRM - http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=7 TheSubaruJunkie's webpage - http://www.subaru4wd.net
  15. Interesting Caliper should be fixed by this weekend, and will have the engine out soon enough (maybe Sunday) to do oil pump seals, and HG's as well as that pesky T/O bearing.
  16. Its got oil pressure when cold, just when it warms up it drops down to above zero, which im pretty sure is normal for most ragged out EA81's. He also lost his brakes as well when a caliper decided to bust. It was a fun drive home following him when all he had was his E-Brake to stop (i dont recommend trying it) but we did what we could and we got it home. Im thinking HG as well, but there was no bubbles or extra hot gasses coming out of the radiator, and there was no white smoke coming out the exhaust. Didn't hear any knocks, just normal lifter tick so i think its just a HG job, and pull the radiator out and spray it off to clean all the clay/soup/gumbo out from the fins which caused it to get hot in the first place. Subaru's will always bring you back...
  17. Wow, 6:00 am is some early time, you gotta pay to play I guess. I would like to be part of the early group to help set up, so I can say I did something. More info would be good, PM?
  18. You can go to an exhaust shop and see how much they want for exhaust all the way back. For 2" pipe out the back, from the cat back it will be somewhere around $75-$100 i think. or you could just take my full exhuast, as Im going to a gutted turbo exhaust with 2.5" pipe from the turbo/downpipe out the back. I think a radiator is more important, you can borrow my exhaust to pass emissions, but you may want to make it back home from there as well. Before you throw your $15 in, take it to a shop and have it sniffed to see if it will pass. Dont know how good your electronics are on that beast.
  19. Exactly the same with my wagon, they'll fit with some BFH and creative smashing, just dont expect to turn. I got a cheap ($50) set of Swampers on mine right now, so i dont care about them as much as I would some brand new Radial SSR's. Im going to say not to do it unless its lifted just for the sake of those new tires. Driving straight isnt fun, the trail has to curve sometimes
  20. A big mall parking lot sounds best, probably gas stations off the freeway as well. We need Ken or Zap to chime in cause they know what there doing (not that we dont, just they have probably done it before).
  21. Brandon and I shall be there, leaving friday also. Im interested in the caravan as well, that makes what, 20+ cars coming from Seattle so far?
  22. im just now starting my EJ22 transplant into my XT, which also happens to be an 86 2wd as well. Im using a 92 Legacy FSM as well as an 86 FSM which has the wiring diagrams for my engine harness, Ive got most of the wiring figured out on paper, just need to get my bellhousing adaptor figured out, as well as what im going to use for flywheel/clutch. Then I can see if my wiring is correct. Cant wait to see what 160hp (intake/exhaust) feels like in a light sporty car.
  23. 1986 XT Turbo 2wd here. Soon to have an EJ22 in the engine bay thanks to a blown headgasket
  24. I dont get to go Headgaskets are done thanks to me leaving the cap off the rad. on a nice drive. Didnt realize what was happening until exhaust started shooting out the radiator
