  1. right now its miami vice brat hopefully soon it will be camobrat after i fix the head gaskets
  2. The wire broke off down inside the thing. Thanks for the info guys.
  3. yeah, some pics would be awesome! I'm not sure how good mine is because I haven't fired my brat up yet since i got it home. it just looks all rusty. i heard it run before i bought it and the guy said he was trying to fix the carb so i could drive it home but he wasnt successful. i'm not totally convinced that he knew what he was doing or that he even tried beause he still had the carb off when i went to pic it up. when it WAS running it ran..ok..but wasn't right and def sounded like a fuel prob or something else but the eng sounded fine. so should i get a 2wd disty? thanx guys.
  4. Could ya give me more info on that elec. dist on your 79'? What brand..etc . Was it just an easy swap? I'd like to give my brat one since my current disty looks like this.... Thanx a lot
  5. Finally got her home. Like I said, funky color scheme. Gotta put on the carb and go from there. Kinda gettin my heart set on an ea81 or 82 wagon now though. What with the lack of bolt-on mods/parts etc for Gen I's.
  6. I thought about that and a sawzall! If I could get my $ back out of it I could put it into a hatch...if one exists around here!
  7. Sat on hold with dealer for WAY too long then I said to myself "Autozone you idiot !" $15...on order. I f I cant't get this carb going I think I'll scrap the truck for parts. Turns out it has more rust on the chasis than I thought. Might sell jumpseats, rollbar etc. anyway just to pay for the thing since IT"S ROTTING AWAY ! Just the chassis though the rest of the body is great.
  8. What I'm trying to get at is this: in my experiance with dealerships here ,most don't carry stuff more than 10 yrs back. A lot of JY's here are the same. I've never been to the Sub dealership here, it's about 1 hr from my house, maybe they do ,I'll call and see. If not, can the end piece be replaced?
  9. will the dealer go back that far? or is off to the JY to search?
  10. thanks guys, maybe I shoulda noted I have a 79 brat
  11. can this be repaired? The attatchment ball thingy is gone off the end.
  12. Hey dude! Just got back on and saw your post, thanks for responding. Yeah, I've found Isuzu 15" and Mazda 14" rims I think might fit when I mod my hubs, but I'm not sure about tire size. I'll prob go with 14" because I like fat tires. I thought about either cutting along the flare line or attatching some toyo(or whoever)black plastic flares and cutting along their line. Have you ever used a neumatic sheet metal cutter? I cut up an old Pinto about 15 years ago with one and it's really smooth, air driven. I came accross an electric one a while back for free so thats what I plan on using. I don't really care if it's jack legged as long as it doesn't look like it is! My fenders are solid so it should be ok. I just was wondering what would really fit under there and if it's worth it. I really wan't to go for the short fat look since I'm not really off roading it. Just dirt roads and mud puddles. Let me know what you think! Thanx Camoman
  13. Hey one eye, I see you gotta chopped up 79' brat. I should be gettin my 79'brat home this week and would like to go with bigger wheels but a lift is more than I paid for the car. Could you give me more info on your choped brat. Did you chop instead of lift? Did it work? Was it already ugly or did you make it that way? Thanks man!
  14. Hey WJM whats your loc.? in Rougemont, 15 mi. N of Durham
  15. Really it's not horribly done , it's just over done and a little too busy , no, a lot too busy for me! You'll see soon. Someone prob spend a good few bucks on the job but it's all gotta go.
  16. while i got ya here where would i get one of those adapter plates?
  17. Cool, thanks guys. Unfortunately it snowed about 3in here today so the whole friggin place shuts down(it's really rediculous) so the guy wans't able to do my carb today. I'm lookin at sometime next week prob then I'll get some pics. What do you have Tailgate? I just found out last night that my mother in-law is going to sell me her Outback next Dec. for 2grand!! It's a 97-99, not sure exactly but either way it a REAL steal! So I might not put too much effort into the brat as far as lift and all just yet due to $flow but I HAVE to paint it!
  18. Ok, I'll give you a written preview: This thing is purple with a teal stripe down either side. The whole interior has been redone nicely except for the colors The seats are purple and yellow vinyl as well as the doors. The roof liner and back panel are both purple vinyl. The quality isn't bad at all but there is no way I can live with those colors! The dash has a black hard plastic cover glued on. Black carpet. Plans: 1st things 1st...sand then camo. Seat covers and vinyl paint or camo cloth for the interior. 3in lift, wheels, tires, d/r tranny(not nec. in that order) I may wait till spring to do the actual Camo but I gotta cover that "Mighty Ducks" color scheme now! Theres a certain amount of respect for an abandoned car in a field thats recoverd even if it's a heap. Right now this things just a disgrace!!
  19. Ok, thanks GD. I should be bringing it home Sat. The guy I bought it from is having the carb rebuilt for free!! Not just the gasket kit either, he ordered seats , etc. that's been the holdup. I'll post pics as soon as I get it here. WARNING: It's really ugly! Someone redid it apparently during the mini truck phase, it's in great shape but the colors are disgusting!! You'll see!
