  1. Hi -- Car is 2 wd, auto. interior is almost showroom cond, exterior has 2 small external rust spots. brand new tires all round. needs mouse nest cleaned out from heater and exhaust system and fix the antifreeze problem. it still runs ok but smokes like a steam engine. I don't have any way to get pics -- no digital camera -- sorry.
  2. I don't intend to send it to the crusher just yet, but I have no way to do the repairs it needs. I am retired and have health issues. The $ 125.00 could be done, but I have never done anything like tearing into a sube engine etc. At one time Myles Fox was thinking of coming up and working on it but that was some time ago. That would be a long haul for him too. If there is a good sube guy that wants to work on it then I definitely would like to keep it going. I am located in "downeast Maine" Moosens knows the car -- he has seen it and helped put new brakes on it last year. Milt
  3. I have sent 4 subes to the crusher over the last month -- 3 were legacys with terminal rust, one was a loyale that I tried to sell for 6 months. Now my 86 GL-10T is smoking like a freight train and smells like antifreeze. I guess a head gasket gave up. I can't afford to fix it right now so guess it is time to euthanize it. If anybody is interested in buying it send me an offer via e-mail. Thanks Milt
  4. Hi Paul -- Sorry to see the hole in the world of sube spares !! And even more sorry to hear of your loss of a friend and boss and co-worker If you and the family need anything -- just call -- or even come up for a battery recharge / tranquility overhaul !! Door and back yard with the ocean view are always open to you . Milt

  6. I have a 92 Loyale that has a ton of miles on it -- still runs ok but is getting really tired (1.8 spfi) I also have 2 90 Legacys with 2.2 engines in them. Legacys are rusted beyond hope so am thinking about pulling one of the 2.2's and dropping in the Loyale Legacys are both mpfi engines both run really good both about 150k miles on them. would this be a plug and play swap? Legacys are auto trans, and Loyale is 5 spd man. what about flywheels etc? thanks !

The tires are 95% tread studded snows, 2 different brands, radials. Thanks ! Milt

  14. A close friend of mine was driving my 86 GL-10T wagon today, and reports a "brake lock light" on the dash (digidash) It says right front wheel. 86 GL-10T wagon, auto trans 2wd Brake pedal seems ok -- a touch soft but no signs of leaks or anything and wheel does not seem to be running hot. Anybody know what that is all about? I didn't think the car was that sophisticated. HELP !! Milt
  15. Update -- Car will not start with fuses pulled. Turns over ok but no fire. Fuel pump fuse? Ign fuse ? Anybody -- need some help here !!!
  16. I am chasing a short that kills the battery, pulled fuses one by one and found 2 that were pulling power when everything is off. Unfortunately the fuse box cover is missing so I have no idea what they are for. They are located top row, fuses 3 an 4. both are 15 amp. Can anybody help ?? The radio was gone and there are some bare wires there but nothing appears to be shorted and there are no blown fuses. Thanks !! Milt
  17. I need a bit of help from the resident experts here. I am going to be traveling to get my GL-10T wagon next week. I need to replace the brake pads before driving the car 600 miles home. (Greyhound down to get the car and drive it back home) I need to know exactly what tools I need to take, any quirks I need to worry about ? ETC. I have done disk brakes before on assorted cars so am not a total greenhorn on them. Thanks ! Milt
  18. Went to the local NAPA stealership this morning to pick up a set of fan / ps/ a/c alt belts for my 86 GL-10T wagon. The counter guy told me they didn't have them , checked the warehouse in Boston -- none, and checked the whole system and found one in S. Carolina and the other one in Utah !!! WTF is so special about the belts? There are millions of subys around ????????? Milt
  19. I am going to NJ next week to bring my GL-10T wagon home. (1986) I need to replace both alt and a/c belts before heading back to Maine. What tools will I need to do the belts and what should I take for tools etc for the trip? The car will be driven home followed by another vehicle, we do have cell phone and AAA. I am taking a portable air tank, and battery pak, along with some metric tools like wrenches and sockets. Anything I need to know about changing the belts -- special tools or ???? Thanks Milt
  20. I have a 90 Legacy -- owners manual says Dexron II Which acording to NAPA has been superceded to Dexron III. bad noises dont speak well for the health of your trans. Mine is very quiet and works fine except for a small fluid leak. I just watch the atf level and add when it gets a little low. Milt
  21. Thanks for the heads up on the FSM -- just what I am looking for for my 86 GL-10 ! I put in a bid on them -- now have to wait I would appreciate it if all would not outbid me -- I will be glad to make copies of anything in them for anybody ! Milt
  22. How many of us Sube Maineaics are there in Maine? How about a get together this summer ? Actually anybody interested maybe we could do a BBQ at a state park or something ? Northeastern Maine -- "downeast" interested?
  23. 92 Loyale 210,000 mi still going strong. Needs brakes and has a bearing howl in the rt front.
  24. Well, my Daughter drove the 90 legacy for the first time today. It runs great -- goes good , power steering needs some work and the trans feels "mushy" on the 2/3 shift. Subaru's are incredible cars. Milt
  25. Departure area is Clinton NJ (Somerville area) Dates are still open -- could be Mar 25 to april 5 to possibly early May. It looks like Greyhound from Maine to NJ, and then Sube back home.
