Dave, thanks for chiming in...us ea81t owners have to stick together. Fuel economy/octane discussions always bringout the best on usmb. Don't get discouraged, some members are GenerallyMiserable. Did you take any snapshots of your TBRAT yet...I would really like to see it.

Try dry gas & 87 octane. This time of year, 89 & 93 collect condensation in pump tanks cause there not used as frequently as 87. Hesitation on hills also indicates clogged catalyst.

broken or jumped Timing belt could throw compression off on 1 side.

I'm almost to the bottom of the tank & mine is disappearing as well. I think I got a bad batch of fuel.

For me it doesn't matter...highway or city...it always is about the same. These little engines eat gas like a big block...I hear the ej22t is the same way, at least you get the xtra horses w/ the tlegacy.

Try a bottle of Chevron w/ Techron next fill-up ($4.00 at any parts store). While running through I got 19.3...up from 16 mpg. Next fillup I got real close to 22mpg. Since then I haven't had worse than high 19's. My exaust has a weird smell to it too...Mick.

I seen a thread about this a couple years ago, did you get your replacement vapor seperator from SOA? Mine hesitates under load as well...also bogs on deceleration....but mine is ea81t. Thanks Der Skipper & Mr Bill (watch out for Mr. Slugo)

Mine just started doing the same thing...I was thinking I got a batch of bad gas...cause I only have one filter (& that was changed 8k ago)..except for that stupid vapor seperator thingy. hhhummmmm????

oxi-clean...but its a very long process. Drenched seats with oxi-clean, then scrubed and let dry for about 6 months (no SH*T). Eventually the dirt turn to dust & I was able to dry brush it out. My seats were severly mildewed when I purchased car, now they look half decent.

might be that you have different size tires. Thats my issue, my soob does same thing, I have same size tires all the way around, but different manufacturer. My rear tires are slightly smaller than front, rear wants to kick-out cause there spinning faster. Soobs are soo finicky!

Shawn...so thats what that strap is for...I've always wondered...never owned a subaru w/ sunroof...except for the 92 I just purchased, but that sunroof is powered. Do you have pictures of your twagon. Let me know how your rebuild goes...I rebuilt the heads but not the block. I've been debating the tranny upgrade...but 3AT is still pretty strong "believe it or not" vwbuge...Northumberland is about 2 hours NE of Allentown mon. You should attend the Yard Run coming up in the near future. Moosens & Wagon78 are coming from CT mon...They'll be driving past E. Stroudsburg...eyrie...dig it!

Dave thanks...no I didn't, since the run was cancelled...I'm hoping its postponed till after holidays...its getting too close to christmas...I won't be able to make it out until January...I have your cell #...if I miss run..I'll come out another time. vwbuge...no I never heard of Wedde's...what town are they in? My dash has 2 cracks in it & its analog...the only option thats missing is sunroof & digidash....I wasn't aware that powerlocks were offered in 84. What part of pa are in now?

Thanks for the thought there GD...but I'd like to stay as close to stock as possible...these seats are hard to find without rips...i've been searching for 2 years.
