What years & models of 2.5 engines will fit in a 1999 forester? I found a 1999 with a blown engine, for next to nothing. If I get this it will be the first time I'd make it out of the 80's, although I did briefly own a 1992 turbo legacy, but I never drove it.

Talk to Rob Zombie, he did it & its really cool. I seen it at the import show at Carlisle a couple of years ago. He dropped a na 2.2 w/ an add on turbo into an ea82 wagon. I think his user name is SubaFreak.

Glen, its turbo mpfi not tbi, each cylinder has its own injector. Humble, How difficult is it to replace the distributor.

Glen, do you mean open throttle. my tb is very worn out & i've pondered replacing it. i bought a complete junk yard ea81t engine about 2 years ago. maybe its time to swap in the other tb. what do you think?

my ea81t developed a difficult to start problem. it pops really loud, then just rotates without starting, until several attempt, then it finally turns over. I can't tell if the pop is electrical or a backfire. I'm leaning more toward electrical. has anyone had these symtoms & what was the fix. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated with soaring gas prices i've left the suburban sit, till prices go back down. It only pops on 1st attempt.

roid....ea81t is by far the most fun to drive old soob I've owned....at all cost - save the turbo....these vehicles are very rare. From what I hear...the 5spd swap makes the ea81t a totally different beast...good luck...if you have any questions...email me....I'll answer them the best I can. stup

Old Subarus don't have pickup, you just crawl along at a snails pace....forever. Tune-up may help. In my case, recondition heads and tune-up did it. I wish I had 5spd cuz slush box automatic robs power...may eventually do 5spd conversion. To me its worth saving a 20 year old Turbo-Charged OHV push rod Subaru...cuz there so rare...that was 10,000 miles ago.

It prolly just has a bug, format or reload windows, worst case hard drive is toast. I do several of these a year (side jobs), users don't realize how critical it is to update .dat(s)...they don't even set them to autoupdate. Spybots are just as bad as bugs anymore, they bring new pc's to their knees.

You could do what RobZombie er....SubaFreak did. He dropped an ej in a loyale wagon....its the coolest mod I've seen. He also turbo charged it...yeah thats what I said...tcharged it. I seen it w/ my own eyes at the Carlisle Import/Kit Car Show in May, we had our own tent. Its a na ej w/ a turbo add-on...no special wiring for fuel...just the add-on. I would say one of the weirdest things, is our obsession w/ old Subaru's...but anyways. Bushbasher I know what you mean, when I was in college, in my dreams I would sometimes solve syntax errors in a programming project I had been struggling with. My mind would defragment all information from the previous day.

I wonder if there is anybody out there who experiences a similar thing: For years, I've had dreams every now and then where I "wake up" and see animals in the bedroom. A parrot on the ceiling lamp, for example, or a dog on the nightstand. Sometimes there are even freakier things: I'm surrounded by aliens, or the floor is covered with crayfish. The dreams are never extremely frightening... just disturbing. Once I saw a three-foot-long chameleon sitting next to the closet. I can easily live with this because they're not really nightmares... at worst, I leave the room for a while or get a glass of water, and when I return, the animals are gone. But, I'd like to know if someone else has similar kinds of dreams. I have a theory, that I sometimes sleep with my eyes slightly open, and I merge the image of the bedroom with my dream images of animals etc. But I'm not sure. Also, why always animals? (Except for those aliens I saw one time.) I'd love to figure out what all this means, and find out what these dreams are called. They are the opposite of "lucid dreams" (sort of): I think I'm awake but I'm really dreaming.

Annual Subaru Shootout in Beaver Springs Pennsylvania September 18th 2004. You can drag your Subaru, chat w/ aftermarket venders, hang w/ fellow Subaru Freaks, your admission automatically enters you in price giveaway's (aftermarket performance parts - decals - tshirts ect...). The event is organized by a local dealership W&L Subaru. Last year was a total wash....it was fun to watch WRX's drag on the wet track...when all wheels spin the engine cuts out, it gave the old Subaru's a "very" slight advantage. Should be interesting this year with the new Turbo Subaru's, hopefully we'll see some tbaja's - tforesters - toutback's - back by popular demand "the tlegacy". Us central Pennsylvanians have very tired Subaru's not worthy of draging a toutback, so maybe some of you USMB members can bring some hopped-up ea82t, xt6, svx, ej22t .....whatever....everyone is welcome!

I had a good time too. It was good to meet the ultimate real-life subaru people, instead of the cyber-version. Boy....what a difference from last year....windy rainy cold 40 degrees....this year hot humid sunny 90 degrees. My skin hates the sun, my face was a red as a lobster by the time I got home. Next year add a gallon of sun-block & sombrero.
