Mountain Loop Highway Adventure? (east of Everirett Washington)
Lol, I like to think I do. It has survived two trips across the state recently.

- Turbo XT or XT6?
Hehe, if you knew what I drive you'd think anything is a much nicer car. Eventually I will be in an XT6, but I most certainly won't complain about the XT turbo.- Turbo XT or XT6?
I'm liking it.- Turbo XT or XT6?
Well guys, I've decided to sort of take your advice. I'm going with option 3. I love the 87.5 XT turbo and want to get it to drive. It won't be my project car (only bigish project will be to put air suspension back in it. I want that back baaaaad), just my car. I'll then take all of your advice and get an XT6 as my actual project car. It will be the one that I overhaul since it will make a better base. Plus, this way I'll still have an XT to drive while the XT6 is out of commission!- Just some mathematics
I want one of those transmissions.- Turbo XT or XT6?
Well, digidash I'm finding cool and I wouldn't mind the air suspension, but you are right, it would go as soon as it went belly up (not sure if it is already) AND I could manage to upgrade it. Market range isn't looking like it will be an issue since I'm pretty sure Turbone is looking to pawn his 87.5 XT turbo off on me. This whole car would be one ongoing project, so I expect it to cost me a penny or two over a period of time. I don't have the money to just drop on it and buy parts upon parts in one fell swoop, but I will have the dedication to keep at it as the money flows in. If the 5 lug is going to be a hassle, so be it, that's the nature of the beast. The transmission is what scares me the most. I guess what it comes down to is, is it worth getting an 87.5 XT turbo if I know what I'm getting myself into? Basically, knowing that everything on that car is going to change (lugs, transmission, suspension) and is going to require a lot of time and money. I count my options as: 1) Get a 4EAT 87.5 XT turbo (if Turbone sells) and slowly upgrade it. 2) Pass on it and keep my eyes out for something closer to where I want to eventually end up (5spd MT, 5 lug, low on rust scale). 3) Get a 4EAT 87.5 XT turbo (if Turbone sells) and look for a MT XT6 with manageable rust anyway. (the obvious downside being that this will be the most expensive, and slowest option) Why does it have to be so difficult? I just want an XT to love, cherish and grow old with. One last question, do 5 lug swaps have to come from the XT6, or is there another car that can donate?- Turbo XT or XT6?
Okay, I'm finally starting to become enlightened. I think it helps that I've spent the last 9 hours at work scouring SubaruXT.com. I'm thinking I'd eventually want to upgrade to Legacy/Impreza brake parts and an EJ20T anyway, so as long as the XT is upgradeable it would be fine. Anything from 87.5 XT turbo up to 91 XT that is. I'm willing, and plan, to do the work on the car to upgrade anything I'm not keen on.- ?? what happened to the XT6.net site??
Rock on, thanks. I don't mean to sound irritated if I did. I completely understand about the spammers thing. My friend and I have a forum like yours with literally hundreds of spam accounts I'm not motivated enough to delete one...by...one...- ?? what happened to the XT6.net site??
Okay, is it really alive over there as far as administrators go? I registered, but have yet to get my account activated by anybody...- Turbo XT or XT6?
If anybody is still reading this... Can you turn an XT into an XT6? Can you swap out the suspension, transmission, and all that jazz? If I got an 87.5 XT turbo, I'd want to modernize it as much as possible. I've been looking around to find the difference between the XT turbo, 87.5 XT turbo and the XT6, but I'm not finding much. :-p- The Hyperbolic ER27 Twin Turbo Build
Aren't you the one building it? I'd expect you to have a much better idea than anybody since you have done all the research. :-p (Hope that didn't seem mean. :-\) Love the project and, like everybody else, I can't wait to see it done. Rock on!- Brat acting strange while on the road.
I'm sorry this will be less than concrete, but I think I had a problem like that before. It was either that, or it would do the opposite and try to die until I got it to high revs, can't remember, but it only did it under load. Anyway, my vacuum advance hose wasn't connected. You might want to check the connections of hoses under your hood.- Turbo XT or XT6?
Sounds good. Once I figure out what my plans are for the Legacy I'll do just that. Thanks.- Turbo XT or XT6?
*blink blink* That is awesome. Hopefully I'll get a job in my field soon and make some good money. hehe- Turbo XT or XT6?
That is the sticking point. I'm not sure where I would want to go with it. The XT6 is the newer machine with a better base from upgrading off of (?), including more engine compartment room (??) for possible 6 cyl N/A swaps. Although the XT turbo is evidently lighter, probably cheaper and the EJ20T will fit fine as well as provide a very versatile base for upgrades engine wise. The rest of the parts around the XT turbo will be more "antiquated" (as if that word can really ever apply to a Subaru) though. For example, can you get an XT turbo with the AWD 5spd manual of the XT6? I'm so sick of one side tire spin in the rain in my FWD only '81 wagon. Oh, and I'm poor, at the moment. I threw this out here now so that I can get an idea of what to look for as I build up funds though. I'd love to check it out and talk in person. I live in Puyallup, work in Federal Way and should be in Shohomish this week to start picking apart a t-boned '95 Legacy that will be donating an engine to a BRAT. I make the rounds. :-p- And it's a Touring wagon!!!
Bye bye fantastic turning radius... *sniff*- Turbo XT or XT6?
Well, looks like I'm going to have to save some money and keep my eye out for an XT6 then. And by engine mod I was thinking swap/retrofit. Thanks. Btw, what makes the 1987.5 nicer?- Turbo XT or XT6?
If I were to look into getting an XT, which would be better? An XT turbo or an XT6? Especially considering that I'd like to do engine mods/transplant to it.- OBDII into an EA81 documentation?
Okay, I'll make sure to take a lot of pictures for you when I can get going on this. Unfortunately I live 300 miles away from where the cars will be. I really wish I had friends with a shop in western Washington. Hehe- OBDII into an EA81 documentation?
Has anybody on here documented an OBDII EJ22 swap? If not I'll be more than willing to take pictures of all the connectors and where they go as best I can. I can't promise perfection, but I'll do my best. Would it actually be of use on here, or would it be a waste of time?- EJ22 BRAT "bolt-on" upgrade options
Well, I am now being told that the Legacy is a 1995. Obviously it is a EJ22 then, but I'm still not sure what OBD it is. Does anybody know whether it was a I or a II that year? I'm sure I'll find out eventually, but it might be nice to know before hand as well. Oh, I didn't know that the EA82 trannys took a different crossmember. I guess I'll want to look into that to then. As for the RX transmission. That is the one I want the most. I'll just have to do some more research on it. If it doesn't work, an EA82 5sp D/R 4WD it is.- EJ22 BRAT "bolt-on" upgrade options
Are you referring to EJ transmissions and/or lug conversions needing axle work? Also' date=' is there a way to use the EA82 crossmember without having to do some welding? I'll go all out on another build some day, but first I'd love to get into a test EJ car without the extra hassle. Ummm, what? The 5sp D/R 4WD you're talking about is an EA82 transmission with an adaptor plate, right? What is "Jerry's kit?" What about the late 80's RX AWD/4WD transmission? Will it require custom work? Aren't the EJ22 engines 9.7:1 compression ratios (no improvement) and the SOHC EJ25s 10:1 (better)? Would it make more sense to use the heads from an SOHC EJ25? As for the OBDII and CEL issues' date=' I guess I'll just have to deal with those. Here's to hoping the Legacy donor has an EJ22 and not EJ25. Won't have to deal with any of this if it is. Are there any that will be good for learning as well as being alright for the kind of work I'm looking at in the future? I don't want to learn on one and then have to graduate up to another better one later. Of course. I'll take pictures beginning to end. (Enough quotes and questions for you guys? XD) - Turbo XT or XT6?
