  1. Thanks Dave, that's one thing i haven't done is drop the tank. JB's mom was suggesting the sock was mucked up, which makes sense. I'll look into it someday, when i feel like being disappointed again :-\. Has anyone ever had fuel volume problems using the stock facet style fuel pump with a Weber ? It's suggested on the redline site to use a Carter high volume/ low PSI pump to properly feed the Weber. There is no muffler at all on the exhaust, so that cannot possibly be restricted. Does the same thing with open headers even. Have not done a valve adjustment, I've always feared it. They do chatter a bit 2.5k RPM and beyond, so it could stand to be done.
  2. Saturday out too, Dave? Will do I think i found my favorite run ever today! Lots of potential for bad things to happen, off camber as heck... Welded or LSD will be king, but i weaseled through open rear, while my buddy failed miserably with the same. Kinda reminded me of the Evans Creek videos i've seen, but in the sloppy sagebrush sea that is NV this time of year.
  3. Damn you brian, come on man ... i'm living out my brat and i can even afford to go wheelin' Then again, it's my backyard and i'll use $10 in fuel to fart around all day. Oh hey, did you see Dalton pulled the rug out on me and sold your old bumper? At least it's on a board members hatch, so it's still in the family.
  4. Just throwing this out there to any of the locals... Headed to the Dresslerville Pit area behind the Ranchos sometime Friday or Saturday, whichever works best for those interested. I'll update thread with times / meeting place if anyone responds I'm taking the black brat and Noury86hatch will be in his brown hatch. Trails range from mild to wild... so be prepared. Get off your butt and come wheelin !!
  5. Congrats, bozo... The hatch looks awesome man, you need a bill omlin monster lift and you'll be stylin' with the best of 'em... Glad it went to someone who uses it !!!
  6. let's see some pics of the new brushguard and paint, yes??
  7. After moss green, that brown is the best on gen 2's IMO It's a pretty hard to find color in an EA81 body style... I've seen maybe 2 others OD green is hella overplayed, anyhow, but do as you please.
  8. When using sealed bearings, do you still pack grease into the knuckle the same as you would with open bearings?
  9. Ha, those are the same wheels i took off of it. Looks good man!
  10. Read: my GOODfriend (who's really not that good at all) Quick one for somebody... Will an EA82 run with a broken/skipped passenger side timing belt?
  11. It's pretty horrible, but i can't expect too too much for $100. No frame rot, but here's the worst of it after the screwdriver puncture test: My GF officially claimed it as her wheeler, so a little grinding and primer is all it's gonna get from me.
  12. Awesome. You would use the 5spd dual range transmission out of a 3rd gen vehicle, and mate that to the 2.2 via an adapter plate. There is a TON of info about this swap on here, search "EJ22 Swap" and you'll find 370 posts to dig through on this topic.
  13. too rusty... This'll get a cheap lift and beat to crap... But i'm on the fence, i actually like it... it's got everything i want from the factory/ Do i find a nice EA82 to swap, or carry on with original plans on the lifted '84.... Damn temptation! I'm contemplating selling out for options... =()
  14. It's actually not, to my surprise. I got it with the intent of robbing the 5sp D/R for my lifted wagon, but power everything + an excellent heater is pretty nice for a change. I wish i was close enough to drive it over to your place Jeff, for a lift. It looks pathetic sitting on 185/75/13s. Must find a chopsaw!
  15. Here's Suberdave's '88 http://www.suberdave.com/subaru/Leone/build/index.htm Maybe not exactly what you're looking to do, but it'll awaken you to the possibilities.
  16. DL wagon's were made for what, at least 10 years, through three different generations. More specific info is needed for anyone to assist ...
  17. I run 205/75/14's on my UNlifted brat, and i ran them on my stock Hatch also. I'm really not sure why you're having problems with an even shorter sidewall height. Look for rubbing marks...they scream "Beat the ************ outta me!" You may need to do a lil' fender trimming too...
  18. So i just picked this up thursday night : 1986 carbed d/r wagon It needs the drivers side CV replaced, and it doesn't idle right until it's warmed up, but other than that it runs and drives awesome. i must admit, it felt nice to shift into 5th gear for the first time on the way home. This will be fun to play with
  19. Obviously this guy has no clue how to drill a ************in hole, eh mate? (sarcasm_ aka ) Lookin sick dude, keep the pics comin'
  20. I think it's a fine idea using the 3AT. Get that 2.2 in there and running first. ...and if it doesn't meet your expectations, it's not too difficult to adapt the EJ trans into a 3rd gen vehicle. You can then flip the adapter plate for a little less than it cost you, easily. My perfectly running $100 legacy was certainly an exception. Even with a keen eye for bargains, expect to pay $3-600 for a running condition Lego.
