'82 Brat commercial
'81 Brats were still in the gen one form, so they obviously had round headlights. Gen 2's however, the round single headlights were on the STD hatchbacks, perhaps others. I've seen an '84 DL S/R4WD wagon in a junkyard with the stock single round configuration also, and that threw me off.

It's an '82, Andy. If i'm not mistaken, all the '82 GL models came with that headlight/turn signal configuration.

Speedometer dead on 84 GL
Let me know if you want to check it out while it's still in an operable state. It's an excellent EA81 D/R transmission with no shifter slop, no leaks or grinding. J/Y crapshoot price is $140 + core, so how 'bout $150 ... It's coming out of an '84 wagon, so it'll be plug 'n' play.

Nabbing the rear discs is a no-brainer.

Speedometer dead on 84 GL
You'd be much better off replacing the whole thing, rather than splitting the case. I've got a really nice dual range 4 speed with 130k miles i'm not going to be needing any longer, seeing that you're local... you may be interested. I also know of two FWD 5 speeds in the Carson City PAP (If they haven't been crushed yet) If you need a hand pulling one, i'll be heading there sometime in the next two weeks for a transmission, myself. /Pete

Now I can go night wheeling
Those are leaning pretty far into the warm spectrum. Are they that orange, in person ?? Swap the lamps out for something a little brighter, perhaps. There should be a Silverstar H3 lamp that will work. I know i found some for my oldschool driving lights, and what a difference. Though, you might want to work on getting the stock high beams in operating condition first

Traction aids!
I found myself using the following quite often with street (A/T) tires: 5 foot section of chain link fence and a couple short lengths of 2x4 Dig yourself out as best as possible, then begin your self recovery. 2x4 goes under the fencing. Tires grip the links and voila, unstuck. Roll the wood inside the fencing and secure with a tie-down when not in use. Although, since i got my Mud-Terrains, i don't really get stuck. Low Range and M/T tires, for the win.

Now I can go night wheeling
Make sure you mount them high enough to where they're useful. Haven't you done a 2.2 swap? Wiring lights is a bloody joke in comparison.

Greasy Adventures with '82 Brat
I've got one. PM me if you're interested. It's an '82 model year specific part, which i'm sure you've realized. Sounds like you're on the right track with your Brat. I've been known to reuse good roll pins. As long as they aren't bunged up. Also, check this out: EdRach's EA series axle replacement Cheers,

EA-81 oil pan drain plug part number?
Chances of him finding an EA81 in a VA yard are slim. Knowing Subaru though, they probably interchange with a number of different models. You know the drill, ask in the wanted forum and you shall receive.

My Personal EAtoEJ Bozo-Zone
Hardy har har, you clowns. So i've got this brown diode, with four wires coming out of it. LG, WR, RL, and Y... The yellow goes to the alt... It's important. I remember a Grey diode, that was easily removable, on blahblahblah's 1990 harness. It was more like a thumbdrive... Suberdave and i were discussing the utilization of using it as a killswitch. Without it, you're not starting the vehicle. I don't remember a brown one in his... Sooo, did the color and design of said volt controlling diode change between 90 & 91, or am i missing something in my harness ???

My Personal EAtoEJ Bozo-Zone
Thanks chux. After some more reading of the FSM pages, it is clear that the FB prefix refers to position in the fuse-box. I'm clearly a moron.

My Personal EAtoEJ Bozo-Zone
So as to not flood the forum with a bunch of posts, i'll use this thread for any questions that are sure to arise : '91 EJ22 w/ Matching harness and ECU going into an EA81 chassis. B48 "A" connector, Pin 15. It's called FB-17 Power. What is an FB-17?

Wider plug gap after MSD install
I can't believe no one caught it. Half inch gap ??? Should look like this .050" Anyway .040" is standard for the EA81.
