  1. What a timely topic ! I'm in between coats on my 208k mile '92 Legacy right now ! Just doing the driver's side right now, since I had replaced the door and done a bunch of rust repair. Eventually (before winter), I'll have the whole thing covered with a fresh coat of Ice Blue paint (#280). When all is done, I think it will be around $150 total ordering from Paint World Inc. Then it's mud flaps, Hella lights, kick a** stereo, and LET"S GO SKIING !! John Wilke Milwaukee
  2. How much bigger in diameter is the 185/80 from the 175/70? I've got 175/70/13 snow tires on my XT and there is 3 inches of clearance behind the tire, and 4 inches above. I think there is a 2 inch lift due to the standard spring suspension conversion. John Wilke Milwaukee
  3. In the snow they are ! I recall one snowy day, comming across a Chevy Corvette crabbing down the road, riding the crown on the middle of the road so he wouldn't go in the ditch. I tell you, it was _no problem_ driving around him with my 4wd Turbo XT equipped with new Cooper Wintermaster snow tires ! Bye bye little 'Vette !! John Wilke Milwaukee
  4. The FedEx man just left, and I'm now four Nokia Hakkepellitta 10 snow tires richer ! I won them on eBay for >> ONE DOLLAR << ! [cost me $100 to ship them, but I'm not complaining. Would have been a STEAL for you boys in Oregon !!! ] So bring on the snow baby, we're 13 inches down on rain this year and I'm looking forward to all of it in SNOW !! John Wilke Milwaukee
  5. I've got TWO Subarus ... an '87 XT turbo coupe 4wd with 157k miles and a '92 Legacy L wagon AWD with 208k miles that still runs great and still looks pretty good (doing some rust repair). I'm getting about 28mpg on the wagon, mixed city/highway, and the XT ... well, I don't drive that for good milage. :-p Haven't had any major repairs and have had to have the XT towed twice ... once for a timing belt failure and the other when it lost a boxing match with a pickup truck (fixed it myself for $500). No tows on the wagon. I'm quite pleased with my Subaru's. John Wilke Milwaukee
  6. Any motor mods in the works (intake, exhaust). Where did you mount the harnesses in the rear ... on the factory seatbelt mounts or ?? Looks cooooooool . jw milwaukee
  7. After 20,000 Harley Davidson motorcycles this past weekend, I don't think anyone would notice around here ! John Wilke Milwaukee '87 XT Turbo 2" pipe with glasspack
  8. A friend told me of this mythical place. He said it was on Hwy 18, west of Waukesha somewhere (couldn't place it exactly). I've looked in the yellow pages, etc, haven't found it. I need a new fender for the Legacy ! John Wilke Milwaukee
  9. Very cool foto. Form doesn't look that bad to me. You'll see foto's of VW's with that inside rear tire WAY off the ground when pushed to the limit. How was the lap time?? John Wilke Milwaukee
  10. 207k miles and still pulling strong on mine ... I'd say thats reliable. John Wilke Milwaukee
