Looking for Subarus across the country...

that was the original plan actually. i JUST changed it... its still a general idea... i figured id get to see all the rock formations and the grand canyon.. as well as cliff dwellings in new mexico.. anyone have any specific ideas as to what sites to see? Thanks for all the great responses! -
also, how do i find a leak? just spray some soapy water on the hoses? are there any hoses that are out of view that the leak would possibly be on. ive read that the freon is bad for the environment so im assuming charging the system before finding a leak would be bad considering it just goes into the environment... if the option to determine there was a leak by charging then waiting for it to discharge was taken... how long would it take for the freon to leak out? on the fast side? on the slow side? depending on the size of the leak... thanks.

alright how can i tell if the compressor clutch is faulty? what are some visual details to look for. i looked at it while the car was idling and i didnt notice anything. although i dont really know what to be looking for.. how can i tell if there is charge? do i have to get a gauge to hook up to the low pressure side? or the high pressure? at the least i want to be able to diagnose the problem with your help. Thanks a lot.

So i am now able to view and play with the car. one thing i noticed was that when i keep the car at idle then turn on the A/C, the idle does not change. im assuming the Compressor is done? i have not yet had the chance to look under the hood to make sure all the belts are in tact... what do you all think and what should i do? im going to get started on doing the check list of things mentioned in the morning..

on my 97 legacy L Sedan, the rear view mirror is really loose. i constantly have to readjust it so i can see out the back window. anyone with past experience fixing the same problem? i was either just goign to take the ball and socket and put some glue in or something so it stiffens up.. or i dont really know. i was also considering just replacing it.. its so annoying Thanks for any ideas.

is not functioning. has anyone had past experience fixing this? how should i go about fixing it? where is the cable located? also - when i pull it.. it feels like there is ever so slight tension but tension none the less.. it feels liek i can just pull on it forever without the ultimate pop when the trunk actually unlatches. thanks.

Thanks for all the responses. the car was parked in napa valley today and it was really hot out. when we had gotten back to the car. the blinkers were working again and the button had looked like it popped up a bit. so i guess it was just stuck in between I had planned on changing the switch too. but now that someones posted about the recall, ill call a dealership in the morning. Thanks a lot!

The hazards button on my 97 legacy L is broken - It feels like there is something sticky in the button. When you force the button down the hazards come on. when you push it to turn off, the button sort of gets stuck down... so after putting somethign betweent he crack and pulling the button up a bit.. they turn off. everytime we activate the hazards button, the turn signals stop working. the turn signals will stay broken for a few days. there will be no light inside the car or outside the car and there is no flasher sound.. my idea is that perhaps the hazards button is still partially down... enough to keep the hazards from coming on but also enough for the car to think the hazards are on so that the blinkers don't work. any help would be appreciated. Sticking my arm out hte window at every intersection isnt the most convenient. Thanks in advance!!!

On a 97 Legacy L... the car once had a leak at the crank shaft... i had paid someone to fix it... and now i intend on putting a light weight pulley on the car to reduce strain... my friend had suggested against it... as it is an old car and if there was work on the crank shaft.. i might not want to mess with it.. any advice would be appreciated...
